Year of the Mammoth, Free Dust, Ladder Changes, Pros' Views, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #85

Hello everyone and welcome to another Touchstone Tavern, Toucharcade's weekly Hearthstone [Free] news roundup, and what a week we've just had. Blizzard finally revealed the Year of the Mammoth, which is what the next Standard rotation will be called, and all the changes we're getting. We are getting cards moved from Standard to Wild, expansions getting a slight overhaul, Ladder changes, nerfs, and more. This is one of those weeks that will go down in Hearthstone history as the start of the game changing hopefully for the better. Most players seem happy with the announced changes, and it's proof once more that the developers are listening to players' complaints, even if they take their time with the changes...

Arena Rankings and Changes, Top Decks, Meta State, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #84

Welcome to another Touchstone Tavern, our weekly roundup of the most entertaining, interesting, or important Hearthstone [Free] news and videos. This week we had more news about possible changes coming down the road as well as stories about the game's meta state and what can be done to improve and freshen it up. There were also stories about what the pros are currently playing as well as some fun decks that you can take for a ride. And, as always, we have many highly entertaining videos. Overall, though, the whole community seems to be talking about the same topics, which means we have many of the same stories going around. Let us begin...

Nerfs, Dinosaur Expansion, Pirate Warrior Deck and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #83

Hello and welcome to another Hearthstone [Free] news and videos roundup. I hope you've had a good week and you didn't have to face too many Shaman decks (although the odds of that are not in your favor). This past week was a very interesting one as we got the first clear statement of nerfs coming to the game soon as well as possibly the name and theme of the next expansion. Are you ready for some dinosaurs? We also got stories about a great nation-based tournament coming as well as some ways to counter Pirate Warrior. And, as always, we got the best videos of the week. So come in and enjoy the roundup...

Best Standard and Wild Decks, Nerfs and Pirates, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #82

Hello Hearthstone [Free] players and welcome to another weekly news and videos roundup here at TouchArcade. I hope you've been enjoying playing the game and you've found a couple of decks that are doing the job for you. This week there was plenty going on, from more talk about possible nerfs or Wild "demotions," to the Android client finally seeing the reduction it's always needed, to the top Standard and Wild decks of the week, and more. And, of course, we have the top videos of the week by Kripp, Trolden, StrifeCro, and more. The talk of possible nerfs has been growing stronger these last few weeks, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get an actual announcement some time soon. Until then, enjoy playing against (or as) pirates...

Buccaneer Nerf Coming(?), Gadgetzan's Effect, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #81

Hello Hearthstone [Free] players and welcome to another news and videos weekly roundup here at TouchArcade. I hope you've been enjoying your play and, hopefully, haven't been encountering too many Pirates along the way. This week we have some more talk on Gadgetzan and its effects, some interesting meta discussions, and, of course, some fun videos. I don't remember any other expansion creating so much talk post-release as Gadgetzan has, not so much in terms of intensity but in terms of how many different topics it seems to have generated. From talk about Pirates to discussions on Control decks to much more, this has been quite an interesting time for the game, hasn't it? Let's jump right in, then...

Developer Comments, 'Gadgetzan' Mechanics, Budget Decks, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #80

Hello everyone and welcome to our weekly roundup of Hearthstone [Free] news and videos. And it's the eightieth issue, which means I've been doing this for over a year and a half. So, I might just bake a Hearthstone-shaped cake and eat it all by myself. My apologies for last week's absence, but I had to hop over to Europe for work-related reasons (they had to really twist my arm to do so). This past week was an intriguing one in the world of Hearthstone because we got to hear quite a lot from the game's developers, both in numerous interviews and in a live Q&A. So, we got to hear about the Gadgetzan design process, ideas regarding how to fix the game's problems, and much more. In addition to those stories, there's also tournament talk, the current state of the meta, as well as plenty of entertaining videos and commentary on the developers' recent ideas. So without further ado, let us walk over the image below and unto the text...

Best of 2016 Videos, Meta Issues, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #79

Happy 2017 to one and all! I hope you've had a great little break - for those fortunate enough to have one - and are ready to face 2017. And welcome to another Touchstone Tavern, our weekly roundup of Hearthstone [Free] news and videos. This issue is coming to you one day later than usual, but even we have to pause for the New Year. And now that 2017 is officially here - though I'm sure I'll still be writing 2016 for the next few weeks - we are back in business. As you would expect, not much happened in the world of Hearthstone this past week, but there were still some interesting stories published. And, of course, we got some "best of 2016" videos as well. Without further ado, let's jump in...

Patches Good for the Meta (?), Card-Draw RNG, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #78

Welcome one and all to another Touchstone Tavern, our weekly column on everything and anything Hearthstone [Free]. I hope you've been enjoying your holidays and your rest - if you've been lucky enough to have some of that. And, of course, I hope you've had the opportunity to play Hearthstone more than usual; if you have, then you've probably seen plenty of Pirate Warriors and, increasingly, our old friend, Mr. Midrange Shaman. As you can imagine, this past week (and a bit) hasn't been the most eventful in the world of Hearthstone, but there's still news to talk about and plenty of videos to watch. Without further ado, let's jump in then, shall we?..

Patches and Pirate Warrior, Gadgetzan Decks, Crazy Trump Videos, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #77

Hello everyone and welcome to our pre-holiday Touchstone Tavern, our weekly roundup of the best Hearthstone [Free] news and videos. As to be expected, most of the stories this week are still about the effect of Gadgetzan on the game, be that in terms of how the meta has changed or how the game feels after the influx of the 132 new cards. There's an interesting article on how Patches the Pirate came to be as well as an article on how to beat that scummy Pirate. Overall, most players seem to be happy with the current state of the game, and that's great because the game needed a nice boost of positivity after the last few months. And as to be expected, we won't be publishing a Touchstone Tavern next Monday because Christmas, of course. Let us begin...

Patches the Pirate, Top 'Gadgetzan' Decks, Meta Report, Reynad Videos, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #76

Hello Hearthstone [Free] players, and welcome to another Touchstone Tavern, our roundup of everything that happened in the world of Blizzard's smash hit last week. To no one's surprise, last week was all about Gadgetzan, the latest expansion. We have stories about which classes are doing well and which aren't, what decks are the strongest in the current meta, what you can do about that Patches guy, and much more. We also have some fun and informative videos, and the first meta report post-Gadgetzan release, which will surely help you pick the right decks to play if climbing the ladder is your thing. So, step right in from the cold, and let's get started...

'Gadgetzan' Best & Worst Decks and Cards, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #75

Hello everyone and welcome to another Touchstone Tavern, our weekly roundup of everything that happened in the world of Hearthstone [Free]. This past week, the topic that dominated was - of course - the new expansion, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. The expansion, which arrived with a quickly-fixed bug, has been so far quite positively received and people have been having fun experimenting with silly decks. It looks like Blizzard has designed a strong expansion that should rejuvenate the game. Of course, we've heard this story before, so we'll have to be a bit patient before crowning Mean Streets a success. After all, maybe in a couple of weeks a super-powerful deck will emerge that will spoil everyone's fun. So far, though, so good. This week's Touchstone is all about the expansion, so step right through the door...

'Mean Streets', Priest, Shaman, Devolve, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #74

Hello once more and welcome to another Touchstone Tavern, our weekly column that covers everything that happened in the world of Hearthstone [Free] this past week. As you can probably guess, the world of Hearthstone currently revolves around the upcoming expansion, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, so most of the news had something to do with the upcoming set. There's talk about the state of Priest and Rogue, new mechanics (good and bad?) coming to the game, Murloc Yule Log, and plenty of videos with card reveals and other fun stuff. So, let's not delay and let's jump right in, shall we?..

'Gadgetzan' Reveals, Heroic Brawl Hits, Reynad and Amaz Videos, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #73

Welcome everyone to another Touchstone issue, our weekly column about all things Hearthstone [Free]. This has been an eventful week but with only two topics dominating the conversation; the continuous stream of Gagdetzan reveals and the first Heroic Tavern Brawl. Since everyone has been talking about these two topics, there aren't that many news stories to talk about that don't simply repeat the same information. However, there are some fun and informative videos as the pros continue to talk about the new expansion and all the revealed cards. Not too long to go now before we see a (hopefully) new meta. The signs are positive, but we haven't yet seen all the cards. Fingers crossed that deckbuilding will be fun again...

New 'Gadgetzan' Card Reveal, Expansion Reception, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News and Videos in 'Touchstone' #72

Welcome everyone to Touchstone Tavern, TouchArcade's weekly roundup of the best stories and videos from the world of Hearthstone [Free]. Just like every week for the last many, many months, this week we gathered all the news of the last seven days in a single article so it's easier to get a good sense of the state of the Hearthstone universe. While usually we have all kinds of diverse stories, this week the news was, unsurprisingly, all about the upcoming expansion, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. And speaking of the expansion, Blizzard gave us a present to give you all of you: three brand new cards from Mean Streets, and they are all about conditional Charge. In addition to our card reveal, there's also all kinds of news from BlizzCon, various opinions on what the expansion is bringing to the game, tournament news, and, of course, many card review videos. So, a pretty full and exciting week. Let us begin...

Gadgetzan News, Ladder Changes, World Championship Results, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #71

Hello and welcome to another weekly roundup of all news Hearthstone [Free]. This was an interesting week with two main things happening; on the one hand we have Blizzard teasing the new expansion, and on the other we had the Group Stages for the World Championship. We're getting more and more information on the new expansion, but there's plenty of question marks over the whole thing at the moment. I just with we get some big cards that shake the meta up quite a bit, maybe even a new keyword. We need some new toys to play with. As for the Championship, we got to see some fun games and some unexpected results, too...

Kripp and Reynad on Heroic Tavern Brawl, Arena Info, Patch Changes, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #70

Welcome to another Hearthstone [Free] weekly news roundup, and what an interesting week this has been. Out of nowhere, Blizzard came out and announced a new mode, the Heroic Tavern Brawl, and the community reacted in the way it knows best; mostly negatively. It looks like Blizzard wanted to give its top competitive players a new mode to play with. Many players also see this new mode as a step towards Tournaments. No matter what the goal is, most players don't seem to be happy about the new mode. We'll have to wait and see the Heroic Brawl in action to truly have an opinion on it. We also got a new patch with some fun changes, some crazy Arena stats, and more. Walk right in and let us begin...

New Features, Expansion News, Midrange Shaman Meta, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #69

Welcome to another weekly roundup of all things Hearthstone [Free]. This has been a relatively quiet week in the world of Hearthstone; call it a pre-BlizzCon lull if you wish. The dust from the nerfs has settled, and the results aren't that encouraging in terms of meta variety. I'm hoping that the upcoming expansion (?) news during BlizzCon will usher a crazier meta than the one we have currently. Speaking of BlizzCon, we now have the full lineup for the upcoming World Championship, and I'm hoping we get some great matches this year. There's also talk of new features coming to the game, although we'll see how accurate that is. So, please, step right in...

Nerf Responses, Yogg-Saron, State of the Game, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #68

Hello and welcome to another Touchstone roundup of all news Hearthstone [Free]. This has been another fun post-nerf week where most players are still trying to figure out where the game stands in terms of the meta but also what these nerfs mean for the game's future. Players are trying to figure out what Blizzard's plans going forward are going to be and what we should expect to see both in terms of future cards and future interventions. All that remains to be seen, but for now, let's enjoy the slight meta volatility that came out of the recent card nerfs. And remember that BlizzCon and the World Championship is drawing closer, so fun times ahead...

Blizzard Announced Nerfs, Trump, Reynad, Kibler, and Others Respond, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #67

What a week this one was. We've talked repeatedly the past few weeks that the Hearthstone [Free] community wasn't happy with the state of the game partly because of the high level of RNG and because of the rather monotonous meta that consisted of Shaman upon Shaman and a few Warriors on the side. Well, Blizzard was indeed listening because out of nowhere, we got information that in the next patch (6.1.3), the developers are bringing the nerf hammer out of the drawer and banging away. The nerfs, which I talk about in more detail below, are substantial and should hit some of the most popular decks while also trying to ensure a better game going forward. Whether they will succeed, we shall see...

Yogg-Saron (Again), RNG Talk (Again), Cheap Legend Decks, and More 'Hearthstone' Weekly News in 'Touchstone' #66

Welcome to another weekly roundup of everything that's happened in the world of Hearthstone [Free]. This has been another week where players have complained about the state of the meta and about how the game doesn't feel as fun as it used to. I feel we're going to be hearing the same complaints until we get new cards, get cards nerfed, or get cards banned. When will that happen, I have no idea, but it's hard to ignore the fact that we are once more going through very interesting times. Outside the complaining part, we got news on the upcoming World Championship, more on the making of One Night in Karazhan, and much more. So, on we go...
