‘The Ruined City’ Heroic Free to Play Deck Lists for ‘Hearthstone’ League of Explorers Adventure

TouchArcade Rating:

The League is back at it this week. With Thanksgiving out of the way, they are back on the track with the third wing of the Hearthstone League of Explorers (Free) adventure, The Ruined City. Of course our favorite theorycrafter TommyJ is on point with some hard hitting decks that won’t leave your wallet feeling any pain. Two of these are super full on absolutely free but Blizzard did serve up a big challenge in Lord Slitherspear in which our card master did have to invest in the rare card, Saboteur, to claim victory. Many felt that this encounter would require a fully tailored deck with a slew of expensive cards, but you know TommyJ better than that by now right?

Since we’re still in the mid-expansion hype zone, here are some Hearthstone and League of Explorers related news on Toucharcade:

LordSlitherspear
Heroic Lord Slitherspear Mage

  • Arcane Missles x2
  • Mirror Image x2
  • Elven Archer x2
  • Murloc Raider x2
  • Frostbolt x2
  • River Crocolisk x2
  • Arcane Intellect x2
  • Forgotten Torch x2
  • Frost Nova x2
  • Saboteur x2
  • Fireball x2
  • Polymorph x2
  • Water Elemental x2
  • Summoning Stone x2
  • Flamestrike x2

The rare card, Saboteur, is best played on turns 3 and 4 to set up a Summoning Stone turn 5. TommyJ reveals in his article that the Saboteur is so good because it not only prevents the hero skill from being used, but it also inhibits it’s growth for that turn as well granting a larger window that you can save up big spells to make use of the Summoning Stone with. Mulligan Strategy suggests looking for the one drops other than Mirror Image, Summoning Stone, Frost Nova or Saboteur. Cards to add include all the big value mage spells but especially Blizzard. Looking over his cards to remove, he basically lists off the four creatures that aren’t the Saboteurs. This fight deserves a special note as being the toughest one there is to date according to TJ. I have to agree seeing as how you almost never see a rare card show up in one of his lists.

Giantfin

Heroic Giantfin Mage

  • Arcane Missles x2
  • Elven Archer x2
  • Arcane Explosion x2
  • Frostbolt x2
  • Huge Toad x2
  • Frost Nova x2
  • Dalaran Mage x2
  • Fireball x2
  • Polymorph x2
  • Sen’jin Shieldmasta
  • Water Elemental x2
  • Frostwolf Warlord x2
  • Gurubashi Berserker x2
  • Summoning Stone x2
  • Flamestrike x2

Low mana cost is the name of the game for mulligans in this hand. Hungry Crab and other anti-murloc cards along with anything that helps with board control are the ‘to add’ suggestions. There are a host of suggested removes for this deck including Gurubashi Berserker, Huge Toad, Fireball and Polymorph. What boils down to a very strong Zoolock deck, if you can hold onto control, you’ll be in a good position.

LadyNazJar

Heroic Lady Naz’Jar Shaman

  • Frost Shock x2
  • Rockbiter Weapon x2
  • Elven Archer x2
  • Acidic Swamp Ooze x2
  • Flametongue Totem x2
  • Murloc Tidehunter x2
  • Hex x2
  • Razorfen Hunter x2
  • Dragonling Mechanic x2
  • Stormwind Knight x2
  • Windspeaker x2
  • Bloodlust x2
  • Darkscale Healer x2
  • Fire Elemental x2
  • Stormwind Champion x2

This fight is tons of RNG fun! The thrust of this strategy is to use a card before it transforms if at all possible. Charge, Taunt/Deathrattle combos and Battle Cries are all going to bring you solid value in this fight. Again, just mulligan for early plays and hope your respawns are solid! Cards to add include Abusive Sergeant, Jeweled Scarab, cheap weapons and cards that spawn additional minions. First on the chopping block are Acidic Swamp Ooze, Flametongue Totem and Darkscale Healer.

It would be better to have an extended battery provided ( thicker ) iphone edition than a case...

      1. Adams Immersive

Although much harder and more expensive from the angle of R&D, manufacturing, inventory management, etc.

        1. unlimitedfury

They can afford to remedy the biggest complaint of the vast majority of iPhone users.

          1. Adams Immersive

It's possible that the vast majority of phone shoppers would see it in person and opt for the thicker model with more battery time, but I'm guessing it's actually a smaller segment. Which doesn't make it any less painful to be in that segment! Happily my iPhone lasts me 2 days easily (when I rarely forget to charge at night), and I wouldn't have wanted it any thicker than the case already makes it. For those who are stuck needing a battery case and wishing the phone itself were thicker instead, I feel your pain!

"Weird looking" is one opinion. If you want to make it single-piece with flexible silicone entry, which apparently they did, you can't have a rigid battery running the full length of the thing. So in another opinion: it looks fine, even inevitable.

      I'll stick with morphie thanks...

      Just a question.
Buying a battery made by someone else except Apple damages my iPhone battery or not. Wanna buy one for my i5 but i am afraid it is gonna damage my phone.?

      1. sakara214ever

        I mean a battery case

        1. tomj315

It won't damage your iPhone. It's just like normal charging from the phone's perspective.

    5. boydstr

You can't please anybody some want a slick flat iPhone and later they find out that that slick design came with some drawbacks the mobile phones these days do so mutch more than making phone calls I hope that they can design a battery with more power.

      Read about this earlier.
Apparently the main problem is that most headphone jacks don't fit in, even Beats ones.
Apple's earpods work due their jack's form factor.
Also, it seems that battery life is more or less doubled, and having a Lightning jack makes so that it charges both the phone and the battery (apparently in that order) when attached.
Tbh, besides the headphones nuisance (which is more than a nuisance to me cuz i don't feel like buying an additional adapter that also sticks out like a sore thumb), it does look rather interesting.

    7. Adams Immersive

Seems like fine option to have for battery users, if you like a thin look, kind of like the humpbacked iMacs.

But those color choices! Same as with the iPad Pro Smart Covers. Where are the colors? Gray? That IS weird.

      1. Ghostwalker

That hump reminds me of a higher capacity replacement battery I had for my old Motorola Star-Tac flip phone. (Still the best cellphone I ever owned, btw.)

    8. speedyph

I don't know lol I guess they tying to get in on what's hot 😆😆😆😆

    9. ffaust

Instead of making phones more and more thin why don't they increase the internal battery size? I put an otter box on all my phones just because they feel to thin and fragile.

    10. Michal Hochmajer

I think, it is best possible curvature side by side with masterfully made silicon in this slimmest battery case , if you make photo of this case under correct angle...aka design masterpiece. Just kidding. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Who knows, maybe Apple will make finest iphone design...once again.
No! Poor battery life in thinnest body isn't the best way. Don't forget Mr Apple, nice design AND good user experience. Howgh.
      Next.

    11. Milotorou

      The design is awful, honestly...

    12. Anonomation

Looks like an original PSP 1000

      1. Milotorou

My psp 1000 isnt that ugly, come on man :(

    13. Zaraf

lol I just saw this mentioned on CBC News ticker

    14. DemoEvolved

Ugly. Jobs is rolling in his grave

    15. JosephWelke

Interesting. It's the only battery case that uses the Lightning connector, so you can sync data with it on, drop it in a docking port, and so on. The iPhone also tells you how much life is left in the case right from the Notification Center.

However, it's ugly, the initial colors it comes in are bad, and I've seen way too many Apple silicone cases where the top layer of silicone is simply peeling away.

So no, not for me. It's got little thoughtful details, but those are not enough to overcome the bad.

Oh yes, Belkin is apparently making a headphone adapter for this case that Apple will sell. Bet it costs $10, for something Mophie bundles in with most of its battery cases.

    16. H4nd0fg0d

I have to believe it has it's unshapelyness due to the fact that they are probably employing stock iPhone batteries. To make the case with thinner uniform flat back might have required a completely new battery design. Imo.

    17. Derp De Derp

I've got a Mophie battery case for my 6S Plus, would never leave the house without it. That thing, however, just seems bulky and unappealing.
