There are few games I’m more excited about than Cat Quest 2, and for a long time I was getting a little nervous that developer The Gentlebros. might not even be bringing the game to mobile since up until this week all of the updates and news about the game has focused heavily on console and PC. As it turns out though, they were simply waiting for Apple’s big iPhone event this week to be able to announce Cat Quest 2 as part of the Apple Arcade service, which will be launching on September 19th for $4.99 a month with a one month free trial. Now I don’t like to toot my own horn, but I did predict all of this last month:
“As for the iOS and Android versions, when questioned about it on Twitter The Gentlebros replied that they will “have more to announce about mobile soon!" Does that mean that the mobile version will not be released alongside those other versions this fall, and instead slip into next year? Or perhaps they’re going to announce that Cat Quest 2 will be part of Apple Arcade, and Apple will be featuring the game in their big keynote at next month’s new iPhone event? Hey, anything can happen!"
Ahem, anybody need the lotto numbers for this week? Ok ok so I wasn’t totally accurate as Cat Quest 2 wasn’t actually one of the games demoed at the event, but it IS a part of Apple Arcade and to celebrate this The Gentlebros. have released not one, not two, but THREE short new trailers showcasing the iOS version of the game in action.
If you played the original Cat Quest ($4.99) then you no doubt remember the nonstop cat puns that were hiding around every square inch of the game, and while we’ll certainly be getting more of that in the sequel, since dogs are now in the mix we should be getting plenty of doggo-themed puns as well. You see, cats and dogs must band together to fight a larger threat and save the land, so you’ll be breaking all the rules of nature by teaming up with canines this time around. Besides that Cat Quest 2 looks to include all the super enjoyable combat and dungeon exploration of the original game but with a new story and new worlds to explore.
I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on this one when it arrives on Apple Arcade next Thursday. In the meantime if you haven’t played the original Cat Quest yet, you can easily knock it out before the sequel hits next week and not only did we love it in our original review and pick it as our Game of the Week when it came out, but we chose it as our runner-up for Game of the Year in 2017. Yes it’s THAT good and well worth your time if you haven’t checked it out, or even a second play through if you have.
