During Apple’s announcement of their upcoming game subscription service Apple Arcade earlier today, we caught glimpses at many of the games that will be part of that service. One of those games was Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm from developer Cornfox & Bros, and today via their email newsletter they officially announced being part of Apple Arcade and have released a brand new trailer. This latest trailer shows brief pieces of gameplay, but is more focused on showing off the different environments and some of the characters you’ll encounter in Oceanhorn 2. Check it out.
We’ve covered Oceanhorn 2 a lot over the past two and a half years that it’s been in development, and it’s easily up near the top of our most anticipated mobile games. Today’s announcement that it will be a part of Apple Arcade is either the best news you’ve heard or the worst, depending on if you’ll be buying into that new subscription service or not. From what I understand there will be no way to outright purchase games that are on Apple Arcade, which means if you’re not interested in subscribing you won’t be playing Oceanhorn 2.
I’ve definitely been mulling over the Apple Arcade news in my head all day, and what it boils down to is that I need more information before I can form a definitive opinion. That said, highly-anticipated games like Oceanhorn 2 being exclusive to Apple Arcade sure can be the type of incentive that Apple hopes will get fence-sitters to jump in and subscribe. Sadly this also means we won’t be playing Oceanhorn 2 until this fall at the soonest, as that’s when Apple Arcade is set to launch, but I’m still quite happy to continue seeing new clips and information about the game leading up to that release.

Unfortunately will not be playing Oceanhorn 2 as I don’t intend on subscribing to monthly payment service for games. Hope the dev eventually releases a purchase option.
Wow
This is a horrible ripoff if you ask me, I shouldn’t have to pay a monthly subscription to get games and on top of it not allowing us to purchase the game by itself.
+100. I won’t be playing this game either. I don’t want to be forced to get a subscription to use any software. I prefer one time purchase. I don’t like freemium games. I chose ios games because at the start they were ok and cheap. With freemium games, I started to be disappointed by this industry move and ios platform. If this move is the future of gaming, I know my fidelity to ios platform is no longer an important thing. Shame to Cornfox brothers to have accepted such a thing. They have lost a client.
The same! I will not buy nothing with a subscription. It's like they force us to pay and play. No way Apple! I would like to play this game but under these circumstances, I refuse to. Incredible expensive devices and now monthly subscriptions for everything !
Terrible news, sorry, but if not released as a one time purchase as well, then I hope this fails!
That’s nonsense because Cornfox put a lot of work and passion in making the game,I can understand that you’re disappointed that’s the same for me but hoping that they are failing doesn’t make sense and is a waste of time money and man hours.
Forgive my ignorance, but does this mean that the won't be available on Android? By the way, the game looks absolutely incredible and I would buy it without hesitation on Android...
Yeah the same for me I really like to play Oceanhorn 2 but when it is only possible when you buy an “Apple Arcade” service I pass.I think that a lot of gamers played a big part in the success of Oceanhorn and Apple have never showed that they taking gamers and gaming seriously it’s only a way of making money of of them that’s it no passion or otherwise.Very sad that Cornfox go along with the deal my only hope is that it will be released on the PS4 and other consoles very seldom there comes a special game that takes you on a fantasy journey in a fantastic and exiting adventure with great characters and beautiful places to explore. I am following all the developer updates that I receive by mail about the game and every time I was more excited to play it only till this day that I found that it is only playable with the “Apple Arcade” service what a big disappointment. This game deserves to be played by as many people possible.
