In August of last year, Real Boxing developer Vivid Games announced Godfire: Rise of Prometheus, a visually impressive third-person action-adventure game with a Greek Mythology theme. Those initial screens had us pretty interested, but a teaser trailer the following month that showed off Godfire’s killer art style and massive boss fights got us really excited. Then, this past March at GDC, I had the chance to go hands-on with Godfire and it pretty much exceeded my expectations. Today, Vivid has released yet another trailer for Godfire, along with a release window of June. The new trailer is really impressive, check it out.
Godfire: Rise of Prometheus really surprised me during my hands-on time at GDC. Typically, combat heavy games like this benefit from being restricted somewhat in order to make for good touchscreen controls, like the Infinity Blade games. But Godfire is a smart blend of both open-world exploration and semi-restricted combat sequences. It works really, really well, and I’m more than a little excited to get my hands on the final version. Vivid isn’t being any more specific than June for a release date, but they’ve stated in our forums that there’s an “awesome announcement coming very, very soon" regarding Godfire, so stay tuned as there’s definitely more to be revealed.
