Podcast-Illustration-0121Mike, Jared, and I belt out a massive podcast two weeks in a row, starting with my adventures in home buying and emotionally coming to grips with high radon levels. We move on to talk about some of the games we've been playing this week with subsequent mini-discussion on various aspects of game design. Following the break, we get into the news, talk about some upcoming releases, and then blather on about the Apple event which is likely being hosted on the 22nd. Oh, and we answer some fan mail.

As always, feel free to listen to the podcast via the embedded player below or by subscribing via whatever service you prefer. Oh, and leave us some reviews too, those always are appreciated.

Yeah, we looked at a house with Radon issues. It had a spout and fan to expel it on the side of the house. We decided and settled on a house that didn't have Radon issues. Be safe and buy detectors.

I so agree with you Jared about MA and the ease of play people are used to on mobile. A lot of it came to me as common sense, but I can see some people who are less familiar with gaming to have some problems. Forsaken has done a phenomenal job with the game, and producing deeper, console like game play. The deeper you go, the more it really rewards you for sticking with it. I'd love to see more of these types of games on the App Store personally.

Oh and regarding the magic of finding exciting new titles. The App Store reminds me of a service we used to have called something like Sega Online with the Genesis. Every week or month (can't remember, this was back in like '93) we would get access to 30 games through our cable company. It was like Christmas every time we got new games and more along the lines of magic. The App Store is JUST like this to me and one of the reason I love it.

And about CQ's Bait and Switch tactic... You guys must be in cahoots with Double Fines double fine....

You do realize that the iOS App Store is the same thing as downloading from the Nintendo digital store? Its just as locked down. Kinda weird to hear that comment coming from Eli.

    • Grievus

Nope. If your 3DS gets lost or stolen all of those purchases are GONE. It's not until just recently that they implemented a system where you if you get a new system you can do a one time transfer of all your save data/licenses.

But on top of that it's all one big download so if you share your device with say a sibling or significant other, you can not differentiate between their saves/purchases and yours.

Same thing with the WiiU. The eShop is kinda fucked.

Exactly, It's the same exact thing! You lose your 3DS, they have a system for a transfer to your new console. Strange hearing the CEO of TA hesitant to download a digital game. I'm not trying to hate on Eli, just an observation.

      • Aaron Marroquin

Dude you have to file a police report then fax it to Nintendo. It is super ridiculous. I love Nintendo, but they need to make their eShop account based and NOT system based.

      • https://www.facebook.com/DigitalDistillery Scot Damn

You don't need a police report. For example you can transfer if you bought an xl and want to move up from the reg 3ds. It's streamlined.

Anyway I'm officially bowing out of this discussion. I don't care enough. Entirely too much defending on a legitimate and innocent observation.

      • Aaron Marroquin

lol not trying to argue mate. What I meant was if you lost your 3DS or something and you wanted to play your old downloaded games. You would have to contact Nintendo and show them an official police report. That's all.

Guys, I enjoy this show (especially now that Brad is gone and there isn't quite as much swearing). However, please take a few minutes, listen to the show, and count how many times you use the word "LIKE" meaninglessly. It is completely out of control. I'm very close to not being able to listen anymore because all hear is LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE

  • Watumez

So howcome you don't cover Empire: The Deck Building Strategy Game?

    • https://www.facebook.com/DigitalDistillery Scot Damn

Because they didn't feel like it? Besides, read the review they did if you really need to read coverage on TA.
