‘Infinity Blade III’ Getting its Final Update, Called “Kingdom Come”, on September 4th

TouchArcade Rating:

Whether you love it or hate it, one thing you can say for certain about the Infinity Blade series is that it’s been well supported over the years. Each entry in the series has seen numerous post-release updates that add brand new content to the game and take advantage of the latest Apple hardware. The most current game in the series, Infinity Blade III ($6.99), has seen some particularly strong updates since its release and our initial review back in September of last year. There was the Soul Hunter update that landed the following month, the Ausar Rising update in December, and the return of Ryth with the Blade Masters update this past May. And that’s not even counting the more minor updates like holiday helms, Clash Mob events, and even 3D-printed figurines.

Well, all good things must come to an end, and today Chair has announced that Infinity Blade III will be getting its final update on September 4th. The update is named Kingdom Come, and according to Chair, it will include “a stunning new environment, dozens of new items and weapons, and new enemies to defeat, including a fierce new dragon. More secrets await and questions will be answered in ChAIR’s epic conclusion to the Infinity Blade trilogy." Next month marks the four year anniversary of the debut of Infinity Blade, so to celebrate Chair has put together an Infinity Blade tribute video, which also showcases some of the new stuff from the Kingdom Come update.

It’s sad to see the Infinity Blade trilogy finally coming to an end, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Chair and Epic aren’t done with the Infinity Blade series just yet. Or, perhaps they have something totally brand new and incredibly cool in the works, and they’re just waiting for the new iPhone announcement so they can unleash it on us all. Who knows? One thing’s for sure though, and that’s that the Infinity Blade series has had a great run, so look for the Kingdom Come update to tie a ribbon on the trilogy on September 4th when it hits the App Store as a free update to owners of Infinity Blade III.
