If you've been holding out on picking up Ossian Studios' Western-style RPG The Shadow Sun [$7.99], now is the time to pull the trigger as the game has been discounted down to just $2.99. The Shadow Sun is a project that first piqued our interest all the way back in October of 2010. Development was slow as Ossian tried to make sure they crafted an intriguing story and rich world to explore, and this past December after nearly four years of development The Shadow Sun was finally released. Fortunately, it was worth the wait, as we really enjoyed it in our review.

Back in April, The Shadow Sun was updated with the cool new ability to recruit a dog companion to roam around the lands with you and join in on our adventure. The game also saw a sale then, dropping to $4.99, so if that sale didn't grab you then the current $2.99 price should. The Shadow Sun was more than worth its original asking price of $7.99, so for three bucks it really feels like a steal. The sale is temporary though, so be sure to take advantage of it and dive into the interesting world of The Shadow Sun.

Bought it during the $4.99 sale, but haven't tried it yet. I don't mind paying the extra $2 if it's a decent quality game.

    • serjical

Sure it is a decent game.

Wut? If you bought it at 4.99... that's three bucks less than the normal price, not "$2 extra".

  • Kane

Should I buy it? Give me a thumbs up if I should.

    • Drummerboycroy

Or you could read the review?

      • the_rebel14

Don't criticize him for asking for advice. He just wants more angles on the subject.

      • Kane

Thanks to the community response, I ended up buying it because of the positive thumbs up.

The graphic look a bit outdated. Can they be looked over or do they make the unenjoyable?

    • NickyNichols

Aww, your poor eyes should not need to suffer from looking at such low resolutions. Bless your little heart.

    • AdamM

The developer addressed this and they put more emphasis on the story/game and less on the gtx, but the graphics are fine. The character models are rough, but Bethesda still can't get them right and their games always rock.

      • anabolicMike

Graphics make not a game but that which is involved in such does

  • GaZ-OiD

I think Ravensword shadowlands is much much better

    • AdamM

You are not restricted to just one or the other. Both are very good games.

      • GaZ-OiD

I have played both, I just prefer Ravensword as the better game by a distance as well, GaZ

      • jbs2017

IMO, Ravensword = Skyrim, Shadow Sun= Dragon Age... For most everyone they are going to want both.. but most people prefer Elder Scrolls syle

  • Atomos

Last time I checked, they haven't implemented iCloud saving right? It's the only reason why I haven't picked this up yet.

Nothing shall beat the best old school rpg on ios aralon the sword and shadow, even ravensword shadowlands was bad compared to aralon. If aralon had ragdoll physics and better graphics it would be like Skyrim.

    • Alexythimia23

Agreed, aralon is the best rpg of its kind on ios period

    • jbs2017

I did NOT like Aralon at all.. the EQ level graphics combined with some pretty ho-hum starting Village never got me into it... Ravensword/Shadow Sun are brilliant games with cool characters.. I'm tempted to play Aralon more in depth... yet thinking about it.. not really

      • GaZ-OiD

I never liked Aralon either, GaZ

  • bhornburg

Thaaaaank yoooou for the heads up! Snagged this and Sid Meier Pacific over the past few days thanks to the TA app. Always wonderful to get some primo games without draining the pocket book. Now if I just had time to play them...

  • MUTILATOR

This game is a terrible piece of shit

    • the_rebel14

Thanks for you're negativity! I found it negative.

  • TripMX

This game is awesome! The devs have worked on this game for over 3 years, I believe. Their hard work definitely shows in this gorgeous game. The game runs very smoothly too and has that "optimized" feel to it! The only thing that needs to improve is scope of the game (it's kind of short), but that should be able to be fixed with future expansions. :)

This is totally unrelated to the topic of this article, but to the people who remember the TouchArcade article where the writer had actually seen a new trailer for "Chaos Rings 3," then disappeared, don't worry. There are still trailers of it. In fact, the reason why people can't find the trailer is because it isn't called Chaos Rings 3. It's called Chaos Rings Sigma, and all characters from the past game, plus 3 new ones I think, will all be in this game. I had to post this in a recent article so people would see this, and it was rumored last year to be coming out this year. It was at TGS last year too I think.

P.S. If everyone knows this already, you can bash at my slowness.

Wouldn't it be Shadowlands, since Aralon is quite an old game? It's an overall graphics overhaul to the max.
