Gameloft Releases ‘Block Breaker Deluxe 2’

Hopefully, you’ve been saving your pennies because notable iPhone gaming releases keep coming on a daily basis.

Gameloft is a company that has impressed us on the iPhone with their Asphalt 4 and Real Football (Soccer) 2009 titles. Tonight, they released a port of their existing Block Breaker Deluxe 2 [App Store] priced at $4.99.

If you haven’t already bought Atari’s Super Breakout, you may want to wait to evaluate this title. Features include:

  • More modes, levels, power-ups, challenges, bosses, and surprises than any game of the genre!
  • Dynamic bricks and obstacles, all designed in 3D with next-gen visual effects.
  • Use the touch screen to intuitively control the pad and directly grab bonus items as they fall.
  • Accelerometer allows you to re-arrange or rotate brick formations by simply tilting the iPhone.
  • Infinite replay value thanks to a random level generator in Endless Mode.
  • Multi-player mode allowing two people to face off in real-time matches on the same iPhone.
  • The version of the game for other mobile platforms was reviewed by Pocket Gamer and was described as “terrifically addictive" and “highly recommended".

huh... well that's it for me. I'm done paying premium price for an app if it's going to drop in a month or two. Instead I'll let them update it a few times, then when their sales slump take advantage of these price drops.

I think its a case of apps finding their worth on the app store after an initial boom, itll take a couple of months and things will settle and devs will learn what certain sorts of apps are worth, then we will see some more expensive stuff from the big names coming, 1st the EA games, then people like microsoft etc.

Come on, this game is so old. How many people have bought this game for another platform? I paid $20 for the PC, $20 for the Palm OS, $5 for my Verizon Phone, and then they want me to pay another $10 to have it on my iPhone? Sure, I bought this as soon as it dropped to $3, but charging $10 for an application that $25 million people have already bought is a little ridiculous. They drop the price on apps because they don't sell. Period.

Eventually bought it with this reasonable price.

Prices always drop on games. Theres been many times when I've bought a PC/360/PS3 for £45 (~$65) and a month later its dropped to £20. Sheesh get over it! Prices dropping is a good thing :)

Exactly- this game wasn't exactly released last week was it? It's been out a good long while. When games on the DS/PSP etc have been out a while their prices drop too. That's the price you pay for getting it sooner rather than later. Normally prices fluctuations in the app store get on my t!ts too, but in this case I don't blame them at all.

The only app totally worth its full price. Now, it's a must have. Really cool to play with own music in the background.

There's no puzzle mode, but it's still the best game ever!
