‘Babylonian Twins’ Finally Arrives for iPhone and iPad

After starting on the Amiga 17 years ago, Babylonian Twins has finally been released — but on the iPhone platform. Babylonian Twins was started in 1993 by Iraqi developer Rabah Shihab.

Babylonian Twins is s a puzzle-platformer with two-character tag-team type play. The game has been entirely revamped since the original Amiga version and includes all new graphics and audio.

First impressions of the game are very positive. You control two characters, Nasir and Blasir, in order to solve each levels. Each character has some special abilities, but only one can be active at once. Switching between the two is as simple as tapping on a button — leaving the unplayed character as a statue. You’ll find you need to tag team to make your way past puzzles and obstacles, and even use the other character as a springboard to jump higher. Blasir can jump higher, and dash into walls, while Nasir spin to break through weakened floors. The game is a collaborative effort between the two characters.

As all virtual control systems, the d-pad suffers some from a lack of tactile feedback, though not sure if that is avoidable. We’ll spend some more time with the game for a more formal review. The game is available for both iPad and iPhone.

The screenshot looks amazing but the gameplay video is just...dull

Still waiting for Frontier for iPhone. Maybe one day David Barben will do this miracle...

I agree. Frontier/Elite IV would be awesome. Dave Braben's never gonna do it though.

X3 is kinda cool like Frontier though

    2. TKO

Yeah, David's style is more to spend years promising it, then come out with a bug-ridden mess. :p

This game is seriously great. I would advocate for this game to be at least tried by sci-fi fans, rpg fans, and fans who enjoyed space miner. It is similar to space miner in it's wide appeal but very unique and much more technically stunning.

I do kind of wish the trailer told you what you could do in the game.

Please find a way to make iPad and iPhone savegames sync.

LOL. "The citizens of Toucharcadia are holding a day of celebration for Emperor Arn." Nice. (News on Tutorion 1)

I want combat to be more interactive. Being able to control WHERE your ship is flying is key, not have it just fly around in circles.

Take a look at the combat system in EVE: Online for ideas.

We have a 1.1 update in review that adds a new combat system. I've been talking about it in the forums.

It uses accelerometer to control your ships heading and has a divert app power from the weapons to the shields system.

The result of this is you can dodge enemy fire and flak them, as well as heal yourself with the cost of not doing damage.

Sweet! Can't wait to try that out. Is this 1.1 for phone or ipad or both?

looking forward to this, should round out the game to be an amazing mobile experience

This game is a ton of fun.

@ drone9, I was wondering if there would be a way. The iphone gamesave system is crap anyway, I once removed a few apps to make some space for more music for a holiday not realizing that all game save data would not be there when I put the games back on hence lost many hours of gameplay.

    1. Hippieman

We are researching a way to do this.

      The problem is file size.

Warpgate saves are rather large. 200K in size.

That might not sound big, but think about if you are on the Edge network. That could be a 5 minute upload.

But we have some ideas. It would be a free update too.

Hippieman, that would be great and might even help your sales. I would love to have an on-the-go version of Warpgate, and was even thinking how I might justify buying both apps to myself -- maybe play the iPad version as a good guy, and the iPhone as a pirate?

It makes me smile to think that 200K is a "large" savegame but I hope you can work out something.

        Love the game!

I'm enjoying it so far. It has a lot in it that I enjoyed in Space Miner and Dark Nova.

  11. Hippieman

@Anubis 1.1 is for both. I don't know which will make it through review first.

I'd buy it if it was a Universal app and had save sync, but I don't feel like buying it twice.

  13. Dark NRG

I was waiting and searchin on the app store frequently for this game since last year.
I can't believe there no online play. Is that right? Wasn't there supposed to be? I am soooooo dissapointed!!!!! Forget it, my modern expectations for my standard of living entails online play with other humans. Period.

"The citizens of Toucharcadia are holding a day of celebration for Emperor Arn."

It sounds like Touch Arcade has managed to make its way into Warpgate!

MMOs suck anyway I'm glad it isn't one.

  16. CassieTheChaoticCupcake

Any videos that AREN'T the same old ones we've been seeing since last year? :3 Maybe some hand-on videos? That'd be nice to see ^^; Post some please.

    1. Allan

Yes, that'd be nice for a lot of people I think. (I bought it despite the bland video) It's awesome.

  17. Micah

Or you could not be so lazy and expect everyone else to make one and do it yourself.

  18. Jonathan

This game has the longest tutorial i have ever gone through!?

    1. Anonymous

You must not have played a lot of games then.

  19. jason

It would be good if we could synch across the iPad and the iTouch, I had to return my Wi-Fi iPad because of the poor Wi-Fi at my campus, but will be getting a 3G soon.

  20. Dino

I've been waiting for this game for months, and having spent a couple hours with it, here's my one-word review: awesome. It's one of the best games on the iPhone, period.
Hippieman, you guys rock. Thanks for an amazing game.

  21. Mr.Peanut

Is the game world 2D or 3D? Nowhere is this mentioned.

  22. Zacronzer
