After a very long testing period over on the Android part of the mobile world, Mojang has just announced that it’s finally submitting the 0.11 Update for Minecraft PE ($6.99) to Apple this week. If everything goes as it usually does when Mojang sends updates to Apple, the game should update very soon. We have recently talked about the new features that the update will introduce, but Mojang revealed more information yesterday about one of the update’s biggest new features, skins. For those (one or two) who haven’t played Minecraft before, skins allow you to customize the appearance of your character (simply aesthetic changes, no special abilities), which is especially fun when playing multiplayer Minecraft.
Mojang mentioned that there’ll be different ways to get skins for your character. You’ll be able to get them for free if you upload the skin from the internet (there are a gazillion skins online), you can create your own using the Minecraft: Skin Studio app ($3.99), or use one of the free skins available in game. However, if you are feeling like throwing some money Mojang’s way (we all know the company really needs it), you’ll be able to buy Bundles of paid skins, each containing around 20 skins and costing $0.99 (IAPs have finally contaminated Minecraft – just kidding). The first two bundles, City Folk and Town Folk have been designed by the talented Army of Trolls. Mojang will also give away a few free skis when each pack releases. The update should be coming our way very soon, so get excited and get ready to shed your old skin and wear a new one just like Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs.
