5e5aef276d273ebdab66a99d80d88b57If you can muster the energy to think back to January of 2012 (that is a very long time ago in the mobile world) then you should remember the exciting announcement that Capcom was remastering and rereleasing the original Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney trilogy for iOS. The game was said to be coming "shortly," and while it did indeed launch the following month in Japan, here in America and elsewhere we waited, and waited, and waited some more with no game in sight.

Then the following August, Capcom stated that the game would finally be out in the fall. Again we waited and again Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy HD stood us up. This past April, Capcom again broke some news about the game but this time it wasn't anything good: for reasons unknown the game would be delayed even further with a tentative release for July of this year.

It's been a long and dramatic road for Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy HD, but things are finally looking up as over on the Capcom Unity blog the company surprised everybody and has announced that the game won't be delayed after all and instead will be showing up in the App Store next week on May 30th. Exciting!

Pricing for Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy HD is also rather nice. The game will be free to download and you'll be able to play the first two cases from the original game Ace Attorney, and if you like it you can unlock the whole original game for $5.99. The other two games in the trilogy, Justice for All and Trials and Tribulations, will be available for $6.99 apiece. Alternatively, you can just buy all three games in their entirety in one fell swoop for a price of $16.99.

Hold on to your briefs as we finally – barring some additional cataclysmic disaster – get our hands on Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy HD when it launches next week, and add the game to your TouchArcade [Free] app Watch List to get alerts when more news hits.

This is a very informative article. You were able to grab my interest beside your original concepts.

  • keith81891

Finally! I've been waiting for this game for like 2 years and it's about time it gets released here! Hopefully it will be playable on 3rd gen iPods or I'll be very upset. OBJECTION!! In HD!

  • Andy C83

    No objections here. 😉

  • 1337brian

I will be buying all 3 in one fell swoop!

  • MonkeyChunks

Any idea how much these will possibly be? Is it possible that they could be over $5.99 due to popularity?

By the way, yes, if anyone hasn't played these games on Nintendo DS/3DS, it is an excellent series of games.

    • JaceMurray

Go back and reread the article. It answered your question.

  • swarmster

Definitely looking forward to playing these (played the first one on DS long ago, but somehow didn't get around to the others).

It's a shame about the lack of iCloud, though, if the Japanese release is anything to go by. It would be good to hear some quick impressions on iPhone vs. iPad when this launches so I can decide which device to lock my saves to.

  • NickyNichols

Shut up and take my money!

  • Aventador

Anyone know how big will this app be ?

  • Rothgarr

All screenshots I've seen are iPhone 4/4s resolution... will this not fill an iPhone 5 screen? What about retina iPads? Did they redraw this for previous gen iPhones or current gen iPhones and iPads?

  • orangecan

Won't be buying these purely because I played them all on the DS, this isn't meant as a criticism in any way just that I don't think they have any replay value. I'd recommend anyone who hasn't played them pick em up immediately its certainly one of my favourite game series ever. Really hope they bring some new ones put I'm not sure if there are ones out there that were never translated from the Japanese....

    • toxiccheese

Totally agree. I already played these and they offer zero replayability. But I totally recommend them to anyone who never played them. If they had some new content then I might buy.

    • KevinLlama

The announced part 5 for 3ds. It's already out in Japan and coming to America I think by the end of the summer

  • tunaW

How often does Capcom have IAP sales? I know Ghost Trick was $7.99 instead of $9.99 at one time but no one posted about it in the Price Drops forum so I don't think many people knew about it. Anyone know of a way to track IAP price changes?

    • BRNX01

i use AppZap it has price history chart tracks up to a year its a great app

      • Aventador

TA app also has that feature

      • Melody Nelson

but AppZap does not track In-App Purchase prices, right? Neither Toucharcade, Appshopper and others. And I'm really interested about IAP price drops in Capcom and other games that can be bought with IAP only.

  • Illuminerdy

Beloved, great games. Way too expensive.

    • nightc1

It's $58.00 before tax to bug all three games used at GameStop right now. It's an exceptionally good deal to get all three for just under the price of one used.

      • NickyNichols

That's comparing apples to oranges, the average game on iOS is .99, not $35. You could buy 17 games for the price of this one.

      • link6616

So which 17 games give you the phonies wright experience when combined?
Also, iOS app crafting should be a thing,

      • http://twitter.com/strangerbeat Red R

these are three very high quality titles that are well worth their price, not some cheap throwaway .99 title you forget after a couple hours of playing it.

      • Benjamin Rodriguez

I'm a cheapscape, well more like super poor and can barely afford to live. But I am getting this game. That has to say something. After buying the first one on a sale price, the game has tons and tons of hours of playability in it. I am definitely willing the shell out the money for the other two.

      • chainsawash

Uh, what? He's comparing paying $58 for 3 games to paying $16.99 for the SAME games. More like apples to apples....

      • izzynobre

Well they are physical games (which involve manufacturing/transportation costs) being sold at an insane markup by a notoriously greedy retailer that ostensibly hates gamers. Rest assured they paid 4/5 dollars for those used game for them to make their way onto their shelves for $20 each.

        Not an apt comparison IMHO.

  • jpxdude

I own the original IOS Ace Attorney. Is the first game unlocked automatically like it was for the Japanese release of the HD trilogy?

    • Drewskii

      I hope it will be.

    • WoeOfAftermath

Way back when they first announced the HD remake, I thought I remembered them saying that all three games would be unlocked if you owned the original iOS version. Granted, that would be extremely generous, but I was under the impression that I would be getting two free games!

      • Drewskii

I heard that too and two game would be extremely generous. I really wouldn't mind buying 2&3 to show my support and hopes for a western AAI2 release as long as those who purchased the original first wont have to re purchase it.

    is this real life

  • ste

    What? $16.99?

Seriously - it's a great price for 3 great games - i have them all on the ds, but this will still be a instabuy for me!

  • tognesimo

Capcom is the queen of remastered games! She remastered 1 milion time the same titles! Wake up Capcom, people are not stupid!

  • Protoman

Nice. These were the few games I actually thought were worth my purchase of a DS so I'm looking forward to having them on my iDevices.

  • izzynobre

They are fairly old games (the most recent of the bunch originally came out in 2004), and I already bought the first one twice -- on the DS, and on iOS --, plus there's absolutely no replay value in this series. Right now I can't justify dropping 17 bucks on the trilogy.

If you've never played the series, however, they are pretty strong point and click adventure fare.

At a cheaper price-point I would pick all of them up if for no other reason than just wanting to own them on my phone.

  • http://www.appfreakblog.com appfreak

Giving two episodes for free is a very evil strategy for the people who played the series on a DS. I'm curious to see how this convert, so I'm perfectly fine with the pricing, which allows me to check if the smoother graphics are any good
