Mobila Interactive and Apogee Software just announced that the classic first person shooter Rise of the Triad, originally released for the PC in late 1994, will soon be available on the App Store.
We covered an early development video of this game, but at that time didn't know if this would ever become an official release, until now:
“We are very honored to be working with industry pioneer like Apogee Software to bring this groundbreaking game from the 90’s to platforms of the 21nd century,” said Yevegeniy Goyfman, co-founder of Mobilia Interactive. “It is exciting to be a major part of re-introducing classics like Rise of the Triad and allowing fans to re-live the experience, as well as share these true entertainment treasures with a new generation of gamers.”

Features include:
- Original game soundtrack.
- A number of customizable control schemes.
- Four full game episodes containing 32 super huge levels – up to one million sq. feet, and up to 16 stories high!
- Secret levels, hidden rooms, and other surprises.
- Play as one of five players, each with unique attributes and abilities.
- Look both up and down, up to 45 degrees, to see what is above and below.
- Ten unique, real digitized enemies (actual Apogee employees!)
A new gameplay video shows the it in action:
The game is due in "early 2010".

Agreed, I still feel like I am waiting for Duke on iPhone, as with current controls it is barely playable imo.
Haha, no way. I had the shareware version of this.
loool….. old, very old memories coming up here…..i played
this game for hours….dang, good old quake times…..
but the steering sux…no slide? we live in 2010 today
Did you see the option screen? No? Then shut up until we get more answers.
update: steering will be changed, says the developer in the forum…..cool, so i buy it blindly
Good.. Steering will be changed.
INSTANT BUY
WIN!!
I will buy this game twice.
ROTT was one of my favorite games ever. Hand of God and all.
Very good. I enjoyed playing this game Multi growing up. Along with Doom, Duke, Wolf etc…. Those were the days.
Looking forward to this. And any controls have got to be better than Duke's controls. Damn, those where horrible(they could do an update though, cold chance in hell, but it could happen)
Would be cool if Apogee brought other games over from their catalog. Even the older classics: Secret Agent, Shadow Warrior, Blake Stone, Raptor, Hocus Pocus even the Commander Keen's would be cool since it was published by them long ago. Even the Original Duke's I and II would be awesome. Just dreamin, but it never hurts.
;
I'd buy every commander keen game again in a heartbeat.. would welcome a nice remake as well
multiplayer not listed in features???
the soundtrack is simply awesome… one of my favorites, i used to listen to the MIDIs while doing my homework….
Epic Gibs FTW!!!!
add dual strafe/turn and release it sharpish
strafe and turns are already where.. (check forums for details)
The game is submitted for apple review
Shadow Warrior please………..
Yes.. omg yes.. shadow warrior and Heretic.. droolls
I spent basically an entire Christmas holiday during college, back in 1994, playing the shareware release of this game on my 486 66. It was awesomeness. I can't wait for it on the iPhone.
all we need now is hexen and heretic!! haha ……i wish
10000000% agree on that one. Doom is fun, but Heretic was a blast.
Chicken mode!! Yes, they need to get on the ball. lol.. they'll resell every damn game again.. lol
Enjoying the shareware version via DOSBox on the Mac.
