FDG Entertainment released to us these exclusive screenshots of their upcoming Bobby Carrot Classic game which should be arriving in the app store later this month. This will be the first in a series of ports of the original Bobby Carrot series that were previously available on other platforms. These will include:

  1. Bobby Carrot 1: Classic
  2. Bobby Carrot 2: Winterland
  3. Bobby Carrot 3: Evolution
  4. Bobby Carrot 4: Flower Power

All four games are ports of the original mobile games but with enhanced music and sound effects. Each game will sell for $0.99 as an introductory price but will go up to $1.99 later. Bobby Carrot Forever [$4.99], which we previously reviewed, was the 5th in the series and was a native iPhone version.

These $0.99 ports will provide fans of the series the ability to play through the original levels of the game, and could also serve to introduce new players to the series.

    Would be possible to combine the classic games into one package? I don't want to take up 4 icon spaces.

    Coconutbowling,

    I was thinking the same thing, that the developer should make this a package deal for those who want it. it also helps the people that are running out of space on their iphones/touchs pages. Hopefully, with the 3.0 news next week apple will finally fix the 9 page limit problem.

    Will the ports employ the same control schemes as BC Forever?

    gootch12,

    I wouldn't think they would use the same control schemes. The developer would need to recode the whole game and it looks like they have arrows on the screens to move Bobby Carrot around the screen. The problem I think is that Forever was made to run on the iphone as a native app (meaning developed for iphone) whereas these games were for other phones/devices so I don't think they would be spending a lot of development on the games since they are porting them over , but who knows they might use the same control schemes.

    yeah, those are actual screens. so it looks like virtual joypad is the control system.

    arn,

    Since the developer gave you the exclusive shots can you at least mention to them they might want to make a package deal for those consumers that want to have three spaces free on their idevices. Unless we get some good news from apple next week regarding 3.0 some people are i bet having trouble with space and full pages on their devices. I know I'm current at almost 7 full pages.

    @radchad
    Doesn't the SDK allow mapping control actions to whatever input the dev chooses without recoding the whole game?
    @arn
    I was wondering if maybe when you turn the screen to landscape that joystick/arrow pad-thing might disappear and you'd get other options. But it sounds like that will not be the case.

    @radchad1 - I'm sure the developer is reading this thread. FDG has been very active on this site and forums.

    and I do think it's very likely that 3.0 will provide category organization for your apps.

    I'm not personally interested in rehashes (even WITH enhanced sounds). As these games are last gen, maybe think about including them free with Bobby Forever as a gesture of good will. Your current customers surely would applaud fresh content and maybe you'd gain some new ones. I also, love the threat of a price increase. Yeah, that works :)

    We release a new Bobby classic episode each month, so from commercial standpoint it doesn´t make sense to wait 3 months for all to be complete and then release a much more expensive single package. The idea behind the classic series is that everyone can get a taste of the game or make a little time travel to the time when we started the series - for a low price. Also not everyone wants to have all the classics so the customer should be able to choose.

    Controls: We have virtual Joystick as seen in the picture and swipe controls

    BTW: Each classic episode has quite a lot of playtime (several hours)

    cheers

    Well that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying it. I might pick up one or two episodes then. I was a fan of the lite version.

    Nice. The arcade border motif is slick.

    The graphics look much improved, and this sounds like an excellent "serial". Bobby Carrot "Original" is one of those simple to control yet highly addictive puzzlers that will stimulate you to play alot.

    I will wait until all episodes are released and hope for a bundled version. For the same reason I still haven't bought Toybot Diaries or Puzzle Quest. Only Apple could change this buying behavior by fixing the 9 page limit.

    Happy to hear this. I loved the original Bobby Carrot even with the crappy controls on my Samsung phone.
