iPhone publisher Chillingo, who most recently brought us Vector Tanks, has a number of games "in the oven" right now.  Among them is an iPhone conversion of the mobile 3D adventure The Quest.

THE QUEST is a graphically stunning, engaging and sinister world full of magic, music and provocative challenges.

Choose from five customizable races and an array of skills, attributes, weapons, armor and enchantments, then explore a huge non-linear realm of four different cities and a wilderness of mountains, caves, lakes and forests.

Play an absorbing card game, solve brain-teasing quests and clash with dangerous opponents in this turn- and skill-based role playing game.

You will have many choices, including some that may place you against the law, along your way to the dramatic end of your own choosing. You will need all your gaming know-how to survive and discover your destiny!

Oldschool gamers may find The Quest reminiscent of a combination of The Bard's Tale and Dungeon Master--not quite real-time, first-person 3D.

See Chillingo's gameplay video for a closer look.

The Quest is currently in beta and we expect it to be released in the very near future.  We'll take a closer look when the game hits the App Store. Users who want to get a rough feel for the iPhone version can download a free trial version of the game for Windows, Palm, and Pocket PC at Chillingo's ClickGamer game page.

The Quest is being discussed in a lengthy forum thread started by Chillingo.

Wow! It looks soooo much like Might and Magic 6 The Mandate of Heaven...
So many good memories. Waiting for this one. ;)

Looks great. I loved playing these types of games years ago, and I look forward to playing The Quest very soon.

I don't know. The graphics look very ten years ago...like Doom, almost. The gameplay would have to be really good to overcome the dated graphics for me.

I used to play this on my Dell Axim x50v. It was probably my favorite game on there.

I would love it if someone ported Doom to the iPhone. The Quest however is obviously not my cup of tea, I downloaded the PC trial version and thought it was really bad deleting it after about 5 agonizing minutes play.

Just watching the video makes me anticipate my screen going black and a grid of icons popping up shortly after.

I hate games that drain the power of the iphone, just trying to port a console version of something. It's not a PS2!

I don't care if you step back a generation of graphics either. The Lord of the Rings, Zelda, and Tony Hawk games all delivered a dynamic and engaging experience on the game boy advance, that made me play until my eyes hurt.

I can hardly spend five minutes playing all of the garbage "game" applications on my iphone. Give me one whiff similar to even a game boy color gem, and I'll be throwing more money at your application than Chris Brown throws fists at female singers.

I use to love playing this game on my palm pilot like 5 years ago. It was a lot of fun and even a bit tricky at some points figuring out where in the wall the lever to a locked door was. I considering purchasing it for sure, although maybe not till its 2.99 (assuming it'll be higher priced)

Bethesda should hire some masochists to port Daggerfall.

Great gameplay, definitely brings me back to Might and Magic, and the old Elderscroll daggerfall games. My only gripe is I wish they updated the graphics instead of just porting it over. I bought it to help support Chillingo in publishing more titles such as this.

Wonderful web page, I recently came across it and I’m already a fan. I just dropped thirty pounds in thirty days, and I am excited to share my weight loss success with as many people as possible. If I can lose weight then any one can. No matter what you do, never quit and you WILL reach every one of your weight loss objectives!
