IUGO Releases 'Zombie Attack!' - A Unique Tower Defense Game

IUGO Mobile Entertainment released Zombie Attack! [App Store] tonight. Zombie Attack! is the third title from IUGO after Toy Boy Diaries 1 and Shaky Summit.
Priced at only $0.99, Zombie Attack! is billed as an "addictive 3D tower defense game with a scary twist."
Your mission: play as a survivor from the ultimate Zombie Apocalypse, protect your shack and stay alive. Choose from an array of zombie-blasting weapons including, flame throwers and cannons. Kill zombies, earn points and cash to upgrade your weapons and bolster your fire power. Easy tilt and touch-screen controls make ZA! an instant iPhone exclusive favorite.
Tower Defense is a genre of strategy game in which your goal is to stop the enemies from crossing the map by building up your tower defenses. IUGO's entry into this arena appears to take an original approach to the standard formula. Forum member NotYou describes his first impressions:
It's not at all a normal tower defense game. It is tower defense, technically, but it's a whole different take on it. Instead of just placing towers strategically, you have to actually run around and plant them. If a zombie is in your way, you might not be able to get where you want. This way there's a lot more action to the game and it's not purely strategy.

Looks interesting, but even at only a dollar, can it beat Feildrunners?

Actually this isn't new. Sadly it seems you've missed out on one of the best games made in the last several years called PixelJunk Monsters for the Playstation 3 (a downloaded game from the PSN). PJM has you running around setting up your towers, tearing them down to recouperate funds and so forth, all the while you have to dodge any enemies or lose a larger portion of your cash (in a fashion similar to sonic the hedgehog getting hit, coins go everywhere) so at least this aspect of it has been done for a while.

Good review, like the quote from the forums… Great use of your resources! Let's see a video and more reviews!

It's really fun! Maybe a faster way to get resources or an Easy level to embrace this approach.

There is also Lock's Quest for the DS which takes a similar you-are-in-it approach and goes a step further so that the player can battle and slow down the foes directly.

@cybereal It's important to keep in mind that PixelJunk Monsters is a different (but also awesome) type of Turret Defense game. PixelJunk is a set path turret defense that arrives in static waves, where Zombie Attack! is a freeform defense game, where you deal with ever stronger enemies that walk in uncontrolled paths as opposed to a variety of enemies that walk in a set path.

Its pretty cool, and well worth $1, but can we have an option to use touch control to move our dude, rather than the gimmicky accelerometer tilting.
Thanks!

Personally, i like the tilt controls. It allows me to play without the obstruction of my short fat fingers, not to mention all the grease from the chips i'm eating while gaming.
