'Crystal Defenders' Coming from Square Enix

Renowned Japanese publisher Square Enix of the Final Fantasy fame will soon be bringing Crystal Defenders, an iPhone game based on the Final Fantasty universe, to the iTunes App Store.
Crystal Defenders is a "defense simulation" game that, based on the early screenshots and what limited information is avialable, may be reminiscent of the 1997 Playstation title Final Fantasy Tactics which would give it a bit more depth than a basic tower defense game such as Fieldrunners.
Crystal Defenders is set for release in the Japanese App Store by year's end, with no word on release dates for other regions. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
Even though this really DOES look like another tower defense game, it does look to have a bit more depth(?) and hopefully is a step in the right direction as far as more value in a single game (more like stuff on a DS or PSP.)
Looking forward to this one, but I hope it's not just a quick cash-in on the FF brand.
(Oops, it actually doesn't have the Final Fantasy brand on it. lol. More like tying to Crystal Chronicles which is only an indirect connection.)
I like the depth… but not so much the look (personal tastes). FieldRunners has some exciting new versions on the way, so it will be hard to sway me away!
Hopefully they're just investigating the market, and if successful, they'll port some of the old final fantasy titles across. THAT would be exciting
If it's made by Square Enix, I'm buying it.
Why aren't the screenshot at iPhone resolution? Is it going to be a port from an existing game?
looking forward to that… anyone tried "besiegement"? right now it is my favorite TD game for the ipod touch, cheaper than fieldrunners and has lots of features… i got that, fieldrunners, mote-m and idefend, and apart from the last one, they are all good TD games!

Hope you're listening Square Enix: I will buy this game just to give you profit so you can create a new Final Fantasy series game on the iPod Touch. I'm waiting patiently for that. Bring it on! (If you take too long, I may just develop such a game myself)
Give me FFXIII for iPhone
Dear Square Enix: please make Final Fantasy XI for the iPhone/iPod touch. Not a dumbed-down version (except graphics), a full version that would let us play with Playstation 2, Xbox 360 and Windows users.
Yes I know, it's a really impossible and crazy idea. So how about an OS X version instead? (i.e. not Cedega/Windows emulation crap)

then….Square will RULE the app store….
also i'm pretty certain we can have high hopes for more games from square-enix, the japs love mobile gaming and iphone hasn't been the best of hits in Japan…but only time will make it better
and more japanese games will be out for the iphone/ipod touch >:D
