Ever since Civilization VI (Free) hit iPad a while ago, it has slowly gotten the expansions and DLC other platforms had including the universal update and more. Read our initial iPad review here and my updated review with expansions and more here. Today, Aspyr Media announced that the Civilization VI New Frontier Pass will launch on August 24th for iOS. A free update will go live for all players on the same day. Aspyr says this update will add cross platform saves but you could already login to your 2K account to continue playing but the implementation on iOS at least, was buggy. Hopefully this means it will be sorted. I hope this free update also adds options to improve the image quality on modern iOS and iPadOS devices with maybe even a higher frame rate option. Watch the Civilization VI New Frontier Pass trailer below:
The Civilization VI New Frontier Pass includes six new DLC packs that include eight new civilizations, nine new leaders, six new game modes, new personas, and more. To celebrate this release, all DLC is discounted by 50% and the base game unlock is down to $4.99 until August 31st. Check out the DLC here. As of now, there’s no word on an Android release date for this but it should be in the future. It is worth noting that consoles have recently had new discounted DLC bundles including all expansions in the form of Civilization VI Anthology and an upgrade for base game owners. There is no word on whether these new discounted bundles will be available on iOS or not. The Civilization VI New Frontier Pass is priced at $39.99 on other platforms and it will likely be priced the same on iOS. Until then, you can try out Civilization VI for free on the App Store for iOS here. We featured it as our Game of the Week when it released. Have you tried the game on iOS or any other platform yet?
