The long-running Wizardry seres has had loads of games across a plethora of systems over the decades and it even had a notable entry hit iOS back in 2011 in the form of Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls. Read our review of it here and Shaun’s RPG Reload on it here. Today, Drecom who recently acquired the copyright and trademark rights to Wizardry, announced a brand new 3D dungeon RPG in the form of Wizardry VA that is in development for iOS and Android. Wizardry VA is planned for a worldwide release as well. Drecom is hiring for staff and development partners to work on Wizardry VA right now. Wizardry VA has an early gameplay video available showcasing some of the visuals and the interface. Watch it below:
A release window or price point for Wizardry VA haven’t been announced as of this writing. While I like the visuals on display in the video above, the interface needs a lot of work. It also looks like Wizardry VA will be a portrait game. Right now, Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls isn’t available anymore on iOS. Hopefully when Wizardry VA releases, players can enjoy it for a long time and not worry about potential future iOS updates breaking the game or licensing issues. I’ve been playing a lot of dungeon RPGs on Switch over the years with Labyrinth of Refrain being the best one so far. I recently picked up Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls on Steam so will be playing it before checking out Wizardry VA whenever it releases on iOS. Have you played a Wizardry game recently and what is your favourite dungeon RPG?
