Every WWDC, Apple reveals more about iOS and iPadOS during the week through developer sessions. With WWDC 2020, we learned a lot of about how playing with controllers is getting enhanced this year and how Apple is finally adding some long overdue features to Apple Arcade. In a developer session about Xcode 12 and Metal apps, Apple officially showcased and announced Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition from Larian Studios for iPad. Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition is considered one of the best RPGs ever by many people and I’ve adored my time spent with it on Nintendo Switch. Watch the trailer for it below:
The developer video here featuring Sam Colbran from the GPU Software team at Apple shows off the title screen on iPad and a very brief glimpse at the game being debugged with the interface. As revealed in the video, this is Larian Studios’ first iPad release and what a way to debut on the platform. Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition is set centuries after the original Divinity: Original Sin and features a superlative narrative and interactivity. Usually massive RPGs coming to Nintendo Switch make people hopeful for a potential mobile port but you rarely see games of such a large scale come to iOS. Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition is easily now my most anticipated game on iPad. The title screen also confirms mods and hopefully it includes cross save with the Steam version like the Nintendo Switch port. Have you played it before on any other system?
