It looks like Epic Games has opened the floodgates for Fortnite (Free) on iOS because you don’t need an invite to play anymore. We’ve been covering Fortnite heavily and even playing it often on stream and the hottest game in the world right now is finally open for everyone on iOS. The best part about the iOS port is it isn’t a spinoff or dumbed down version of Fortnite. This is the real deal and it even has cross platform support with purchases of items (not currency) carrying over to other platforms linked with the same Epic Account.
Fortnite on iOS is a huge technical accomplishment. Epic Games is clearly in this for the long run and I’m excited to see how the mobile version evolves over time. The big update 3.4 added a new download system and improved visuals with better load times on iPhone X. If you’re only aware of PUBG, check out our post on which one is better. Since this is finally not Invite Only, give it a shot.
If you’re playing Fortnite on iOS, make sure to join #fortnite on our Discord server to find squads to play with. If you do manage getting a fantastic Victory Royale, let us know and we may even share it with the TouchArcade audience. This is where we’d usually write about how you can get an invite code but that’s no longer needed so it is time to say goodbye to the Pokémon bot in our Discord (sorry Rob).
