E3 2015: 'Calvino Noir', a Cool Looking Stealth-Adventure Game, is Coming to iOS

Noir aesthetic definitely has something majestic about it, doesn't it? The moment I saw images and short GIFs from the upcoming game, Calvino Noir, I was struck by the game's great graphics and ambiance. Reading more about the game, I got even more intrigued. Yesterday at E3, the developers announced that the game is coming to PS4 as well as mobile and gave a bit more information about their ideas behind the game's development. In that announcement, they mentioned Bladerunner and Deus Ex as inspirations, and, needless to say, they got my full attention. While promising and delivering are two very distinct acts, I like that the developers chose to go with 1930s Vienna because I'm tired of constantly traversing the same types of environments. Apparently, the developers have put a lot of thinking into the game's architecture (one of the game's main designers is an architect by training),  and they designed it to be as realistic as possible both in looks and in gameplay functionality; as they state, most churches don't have ventilation systems large enough for a man to crawl through, so neither will their game...

E3 2015: Hands-On With 'Magic Duels: Origins' and... A New Magic Card!

Yesterday we met with the wonderful people at Wizards of the Coast for the annual tradition of checking out what they're doing with the Duels series this year at E3. Before we dive into that though, Wizards gave us the opportunity to spoil a totally new Magic card, so if you're just here for that, take a look to the right... But stick around, as this might be the most exciting year for Duels yet...

E3 2015: 'Joe Montana Football' Coming to iOS First, Video Footage Revealed

A new football game starring NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana, appropriately titled Joe Montana Football, has been in the works and teased on social media for a few months now. We knew that it was going to be developed in Unreal Engine 4, but we now know that it's coming to mobile. Unreal did an interview with Damon Grow of Superstar Studios, and showed off some of the footage of the game, saying that the iOS version will be coming first, followed by Android and possibly to PC and other platforms in the future. The game is using Metal with Unreal, and the footage shown is from the iOS version of the game:..

E3 2015: Hands-On with 'Titan Quest' from DotEmu

Titan Quest was a well-recieved Diablo-like hack 'n slash RPG released back in 2006 by THQ. When THQ went under, the IP was picked up by Nordic Games, and by way of a licensing deal with DotEmu, we'll all soon have Titan Quest on our iOS devices, as was hinted at yesterday. We stopped by the DotEmu booth here at E3 and took a very early build of Titan Quest for a spin on an iPad. I never played the original, as you can tell by my fumbling about, but it should give you a good idea of what the iOS port will be like...

E3 2015: 'Final Fantasy Portal' Is Coming In English

Last year, Square Enix released Final Fantasy Portal on the Japanese App Store. Similar to their previously released Dragon Quest Portal app, it serves as both an information hub for all things Final Fantasy and a launcher for the various games in the series. The app launched with a free copy of Final Fantasy 1 in Japan for the first million downloads, and eventually added a free-to-play update of the card game Triple Triad from Final Fantasy 8. Unlike its sister app, however, Final Fantasy Portal will be releasing outside of Japan...

Upcoming 'The Banner Saga 2' Will Likely Have Better Combat and Caravan Mechanics

When Stoic's The Banner Saga [$9.99] came out for the PC and then for iOS, it wowed everyone with its amazing art direction, fantastic music, and captivating characters. The game really looks like the classic Disney films (the developers have pointed to Sleeping Beauty as an inspiration), and the story has tugged at many heartstrings, leaving its players with many memorable moments. While the story and the art stood out, the game's battle mechanic was often described as repetitive and a bit on the simplistic side...

We posted a brief roundup of some of the crazy controllers and peripherals we've run across at E3 so far this year, but we took an extended look at the MadCatz L.Y.N.X. transforming controller just because it was so cool/absurd/expensive/crazy/etc. Check out the full video below...

There's always an odd assortment of crazy controllers and peripherals at a show like E3, and even on our first day we've run across several on the show floor. We've been taking short videos on Vine (follow us if you haven't already!) of some of them, so here's a quick roundup of the ones we've seen so far. I'm sure there's more stuff like this lurking in the shadows of the expo, so catch them on our Vine or on our Twitter and if there's enough demand we may even do another roundup like this later this week...

E3 2015: DotEmu is Bringing 'Titan Quest' to iOS, Likely as a Premium Title

DotEmu has been teasing a big announcement at E3, and the photo they've just posted from their booth has revealed that Titan Quest is coming to iOS. If you look at the bottom left of the picture, you'll see Titan Quest running on an iPad, so that pretty much makes it a done deal...

Among our first appointments of the day was sitting down to chat with Bethesda VP Pete Hines. Unsurprisingly, he didn't have anything new to talk about, as they put all their cards on the table during the E3 event... But, it's always nice to get some more details on where Bethesda is headed, what they're thinking with their mobile strategy and more. Instead of doing an article with a bunch of quotes pulled out and such, I figured it'd be cooler to just post ten minutes of raw audio of us chatting at E3...

E3 2015: Hands-On with The Very Free to Play 'Torchlight Mobile'

One of the big announcements leading up to E3 this week was that the popular dungeon crawler Torchlight would be making its way to mobile. Torchlight has been a fan-favorite alternative to Diablo ever since it arrived on PC in the fall of 2009, followed by console ports and a sequel in the years that followed. I've always thought it would be a perfect fit for mobile devices too, so I was excited to see the announcement about Torchlight Mobile, and I was very excited to go hands-on with a very early build at E3 just a few moments ago. However, it's something of a mixed bag depending on your feelings about mobile games. ..

E3 2015: Square Enix Montreal Reveals 'Lara Croft Go', a Turn-Based 'Tomb Raider' Adventure

Square Enix Montreal has been doing some clever stuff with Square Enix's franchises, and they're jumping from Hitman to Tomb Raider with a new game called Lara Croft Go. They emphasized that they're focusing on "premium experiences," and they're doing a new "Go" game, appearing to take Tomb Raider and make it into a gorgeous puzzle/adventure game that recalls Monument Valley [$3.99] in no small way. They showed off a bit of footage of the game during their E3 press conference...

E3 2015: 'Kingdom Hearts: Unchained Key' Coming to Mobile and Releasing Worldwide

Square Enix has announced a new mobile game in the Kingdom Hearts series called Kingdom Hearts Unchained Key. Based on a browser game in Japan, this features plenty of Disney characters from across their many franchises, along with the fantastical stories of the Kingdom Hearts games, and plenty of Keyblade action, in a top-down RPG. The visuals are a flat 2D style, and plenty of characters from both Disney and Square Enix will both wind up in battle across the game's story...

E3 2015: 'Final Fantasy VII' is Coming to iOS

Looks like Final Fantasy VII is coming to iOS, as announced at Square Enix's E3 press conference. Reports indicate that this isn't the remake announced at the Sony press conference, but is actually based on the PS1 original and the PC port that has been updated for compatibility with modern computers. While the first 6 games in the main franchise have been updated and enhanced for mobile, this is the first game in the Playstation series of games to release for mobile...

E3 2015: Bank Heist Game 'Payday' Coming to Mobile

505 Games has announced with Starbreeze that they're bringing an entry in the popular PC heist game Payday to mobile. Starbreeze has commissioned Cmune, developers of UberStrike and Bullet Rush [Free], to bring a mobile version of Payday to life. No release date has been announced, or any details beyond the involvement of Cmune, but this should be worth keeping an eye on...

E3 2015: EA Announces New, Year-less 'EA Sports FIFA' Game and New 'Madden NFL Mobile' Details

Interestingly, EA also revealed that a new EA Sports FIFA game is coming to mobile. Previously, EA has released new yearly versions of FIFA, but they may be going down the path they're going with Madden on mobile now. Madden is year-less, and will just be getting updates for the new season, with a Season Score that will let you get a leg up on the new season of the game with your new teams when the 2015 season starts on August 19th. ..

E3 2015: EA Shows Off 'Minions Paradise' in Action

EA's town-builder and mini-game-filled Minions Paradise is coming soon, and EA gave it a prime showcase at E3, demoing it at their press conference. They showed off the game in action with the fun things you can do with the Minions. Interestingly, this one is already in soft launch, so if you're in New Zealand you can play it right now. This is an interesting presence at E3, as the show is usually about big, flashy games, and here's a casual, kid-friendly town-builder for mobile. Even with games like Unravel and Garden Warfare 2, this still kind of stands out...

E3 2015: EA Announces Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes

EA is jumping into the Star Wars franchise with an upcoming CCG called Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. They didn't show much off of the game beyond the title, but we'll see it later this year...

EA is doing its E3 press conference right now, and they've revealed Gameface HD, a feaure that lets you scan your face into NBA Live by using a mobile device. They ran a demo on stage, and it looked pretty impressive, though we'll see how it works in practice. These things are sometimes horrific, as shown by the NBA 2K face-scanning disasters:..

E3 2015: 'The Walking Dead: Michonne' Series Announced by Telltale

Telltale Games is working on a new miniseries called The Walking Dead: Michonne, focusing on the popular sword-wielding character from the comics and TV series. The game will consist of three episodes, and be available later this year. This was announced at their E3 press conference, will be developed by Skybound, and was confirmed to take place between issues #126 and #139 in the comics series, for fans wondering how this fits into the continuity...
