Weird to show a wire hanging off it, when you can play games with the internal speaker.

  2. Finch

I thought that was odd too. seems very un-apple of them to admit that your device needs wires once in awhile.

  3. Rojo

The wire is VERY odd - so distracting!

Also, does the Labyrinth demo look really fake, or what? Wouldn't surprise me -- since don't you have to lay your device completely flat to play it? (Not sure if you can calibrate it to play at THAT much of an angle. Maybe you can -- but I would think it would be really difficult to play then....).

  4. Finch

I noticed a lot of the games were sped up a bit to make them look more exciting. Monkey ball is definitely not that fast and neither is Labyrinth

"Funnest" is NOT a word. How has nobody realized that yet? How did nobody at apple catch that. Now they have "funnest" written all over their homepage making them look like 12-year-olds. For fuck's sake, even when you type "funnest" it underlines it in red, telling you that it's not a word.

Well you never heard of something called "invention", did you? ;)
It is meant in the same way as McDonald's "I'm lovin' it". :D

  7. Dudehuge

Guys the "iconic" white ipod headphone wire signifies that you can also use it for listening to music.

    @The Sand People

Funnest is not a word but it's acceptable in an informal way. It's language evolution in action, just the same way as Google is now a verb and Podcast is accepted in the modern day lexicon. Read about it on the link below. . .

Good for Apple to make this ad as they never really bothered supporting games.

  8. MacTheSpoon

That is a REALLY good ad!! Good job, Apple.

@Rojo, I thought the same about the angle but then realized the camera could be pointed downwards.

  9. girlgeek

yes, the camera is pointed downwards - maybe from the perspective of the game player looking downward ........I was going to write 'gamer' but then I thought maybe that's not a word either (smiles)

  10. Bryan Duke

Great ad! (...and very cool to see the 1 second of Air Hockey in there!)

  11. slappy

The ad shows people what this little thing can really do. With just games alone....

  12. Jim

The wire cord of the iPod is shown in this ad because Apple wants you to remember that the Touch is also a music player. You will not be enjoying your music through the new Touch's built-in speaker, that's for sure, and you will probably enjoy your games more through headphones, as well.

As for "funnest," Apple's agency is obviously playing with language. They are not so ignorant as to think "funnest" is an accepted, official word. "Funnest" is a piece of kid-speak, and by using it, they're highlighting the fact that with all of the new games, the iPod Touch is more of a "play-thing" than ever before. Their tongues are firmly in cheek--I'm surprised anyone would be outraged.

  13. griffin

you guys are smart. yea i figure now that apple is trying to position ipod touch as a portable gaming device as well as an iPod, they needed to remind people that it's a music player too - that's why they show coverflow at the end and have the cord coming out.

i doubt they sped any of the games up. and they could've shot the labrynth game from overhead looking down.

  14. Foofur

What is the song that's playing?

  15. Foofur

What is the song that is playing?

  16. QuickPWN

Is the new iPod Touch just good for games?! ;)

  17. Jerky

@Foofur: (from the youtube description) The song is "Around the Bend" by The Asteroids Galaxy Tour. iTunes Store link: http://tinyurl.com/5g6luj

    I kinda like it too...

  18. isimon

The add looks fake because the image is superimposed on the ipod so it is not live accelerometer support, which is sad because labyrinth looks great live.

  19. MacGuy

At "isimon" how can you tell that the image is superimposed on the ipod. It could be or it could be real.

  20. Rich

does anybody know who the band is, and what the name of the song is on this commercial?

  21. mike

the wire is also used to show the audience that it is not an iphone advertisement.

  22. Steph

The song is called "Around The Bend" by The Asteroids Galaxy Tour.

  23. Tom

thanks for the name of the song, its catchy.. never heard of the band b4, do they have any other good songs?

  24. Rhywun

This is the ad that got me to buy an iPod Touch. Before, I had no idea how strong the games were. I'm a big "retro" gamer, that is, I prefer these kinds of games to most of what's available on my computer nowadays. I was on the fence about getting a Touch but after I saw this it was a no-brainer.

  25. Jeseppi the Wise

I think that Rhywun is a fucking pussy and a complete homo.

  26. zakk24555

lol have you noticed all the apple songs have to do with sex and love this song the last one "music is my hot hot sex" and the chromatic one bruises by chair lift about falling in love lol!!!

everyone funnest means kid language it is not meant to be used as a word!!!!!

an it is not real so stop saying you cant play that Ame straight up or wat not the cam is facing down at the ipod to give it the up side feel and one last thing the wire is there to show that it is a ipod not a iphone!!!

  27. sprucetree

Truthieness was not a word when steven colbert coined it 2 years ago. Yet now it is recognized by some dictionaries and a well known term. Funnest is not a word per se. Its a play on word for fun. Instead of "funniest" as in, "family Guy is the funniest show" its funn-e-st, as in "the most fun, ever." He could have said "funist" too, but that wouldnt have had the same impact as making it sound like "funniest" while having a new meaning, or almost having two. Regardless, its great advertisement, look how much discussion its brought, seriously. :)

  28. asherz

hey does anyone know the name of the 4th game shown on the ad. the one after the laberinth i think

  29. asherz

hey me again.dont worry bout it i found it
