Backflip Studios’ Paper Toss World Tour [App Store] finally got approved and is now available for download. Utilizing the same strangely appealing gameplay element of the free Paper Toss [App Store], World Tour takes the show on the road across 8 exotic locales.
Gameplay is basic and simply involves flicking a wad of paper in to a trash can, correcting for the constantly changing wind, and seeing how many shots you can get in a row. There’s not much to it, but similar to Doodle Jump [App Store], it’s just one of those extremely simple games that you can find yourself spending a ridiculous amount of time playing.
There’s not much different in gameplay between the free version of Paper Toss and World Tour. You get more levels, some new music, outdoor wind and weather effects (outside the pyramids you are throwing paper in a sand storm) and some new sounds and animations. World Tour is basically a “premium" version of the original with improved graphics and an unlockable level progression, and is worth a dollar if you want to support the developers or you find yourself amused by silly things like tossing paper in garbage cans outside the Taj Mahal.
Just like the free version, you can upload your scores to the online leaderboards, and it shares the same satisfying metallic thunks when you successfully sink one in to the trash can. I was kinda thinking it would be a free update for 3GS users. I spent $8 on this game already for my 3G. Now I'm supposed to buy the update for $1? It's not that good of a game to begin with. Pass.
Read the thread. It is not that easy to "update" the entire game's graphics, without having provided a path to do so originally.

As a fellow developer, I have to say that meaningful direct dialogue with customers is one of the best things about TA.
However, meaningful and direct dialogue requires mutual respect - developers enjoy positive feedback, but we also appreciate negative comments to be delivered constructively.
The App Store has many hobbyist developers to whom making any money at all is an upside, and from that it's easy to forget that there are developers who also work full-time on iPhone games, and as such are dependent on a steady stream of income to pay the rent.
Expecting the professional developers to work for free (in fact, expecting any developer to work for no compensation) makes very little sense. It would be very difficult to stay in business by providing free updates to a game that the existing customers already were satisfied with.
All this comes down to a simple thing: support the developers whose work you enjoy. It doesn't really work any other way.
I want games that adapt to whatever hardware you have, and would hope to achieve that if/when I publish anything.
But most of today's games were made before the 3GS, and couldn't have planned in advance for this to happen. So maybe it's not so easy to have two-in-one. Future games may plan for that, but if a current game really NEEDS to be two versions, then so be it. Better that (which nobody is required to buy) than not having any 3GS version available at all.
Alright, I can see the polish in it. But why have such ugly explosions. 1-2 sec into the Video I see old school clouds as an explosion.
Would have been cool to tune this too, or was there no performance left after the water?

Doom: Resurrection is also a 3GS Specific app. I've seen many interviews with id where they've clearly stated that they're tailoring the application to take advantage of whatever hardware its installed for.
