When we talked about all the games we're losing once iOS 11 hits on September 12th (or thereabouts), we saw many of you complain about Playdek's Lords of Waterdeep [$9.99] going away, but we finally have good news on that front. Playdek just announced that the game is getting a 64-bit update on iOS today and is also releasing on Android. And, as you would expect from Playdek, you will be able to play across platforms, so that should make it easier to find players willing to run around Waterdeep with you. The Android version will also have the Undermountain and Skullport expansions available for purchase today. To celebrate the 64-bit update and the Android release, Lords of Waterdeep has dropped in price for a limited time, so if you don't own it, now would be a good time to pick it up.

Lords of Waterdeep is definitely a great port of a great game, so if you enjoy board games, you should definitely pick this one up. We really liked it in our review back in 2013 when it originally came out. The game offers strong AI opponents (maybe too strong?) and both real-time and asynchronous multiplayer. Another great game survives the 32-bit apocalypse then, so everyone grab some ale and rejoice.

Wow. I was beginning to think that Playdek were pretty much dead after heir recent Kockstarter fiasco and that none of their games would ever receive an update again. Hopefully this is the first of many 64 bit updates from them.

*Kickstarter. A kockstarter is something completely different - probably.

Nice slip, especially in relation to Playdek.

Whilst I'm really pleased to see my favourite board game get a 64 bit update I'm really saddened by some changes. The original app felt perfectly designed around the portrait format board. The new app is landscape only with many elements very very small. Usuability is far worse. What I'm getting at is that the original app felt designed for iPad whereas this new one feels like a mac/pc port.

I'm stoked to have this great game saved from extinction, but I do also miss the portrait option and didn't expect that the new landscape view would come at the expense of the already great portrait mode would be struck from the menu. An option to have both would be ideal!

What a great game. Had so much fun with it.

I'm very glad that this game isn't getting the axe; unfortunately it seems Fluxx might not be so lucky.

I asked Playdek about it via facebook and here was their response "We have not been able to confirm that one way or another. We will have a status update on our games in the coming weeks."

    One can hope

This game is fantastic, playdek did so good on it. Totally worth it

In addition to the other sucky changes, I hear the sound effects are just ripped from Civilization now. If that's true, then they should have let the game die rather than rush some clunky crap just to shut people up.

      Hell no!

The game looks much different, now, than those images posted.
