Perhaps the last platform in existence to not get Retro City Rampage [$4.99] in an official capacity has been Android. I say official because you can literally buy a version for MS-DOS and probably run it through a DOS emulator on Android. But for those who haven't done that, well, I have good news: Retro City Rampage is at last available on Google Play for Android, in its DX form and all.

If you like open-world gameplay, 8-bit pastiches, and/or lots of gaming referential humor, then you ought to check this out. It is a pretty solid open-world action game, with a ton of things to do, just all done in 8-bit format. The Android version supports Bluetooth controllers along with touch controls. If you want to know more about the game, check out my review of the iOS version, and then download the game on Google Play.

since this site is supposed to "keep me in touch with the latest in iOS gaming" , I could care less about android. but thanks for the news anyway.

Android is just too big for TA to ignore.

We've gotten quite a few notes from people who primarily game on an iPad but also have an Android phone (or vice versa) who really appreciate these heads up for stuff that's super popular around here. The name "TouchArcade" was intentionally ambiguous to allow us to cover any touch-based device. A few comment curmudgeons won't stop us from posting a few super-relevant Android stories here and there. ๐Ÿ˜‰

        Thanks Eli ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks .Give equal preference to Android.

Thanks Eli, I appreciate those heads up relating Android. My comment was more of a trolling for Mr. Buck Wheat.

That's me to a tee - play manly on my iPad mini but use a new android mobile phone. I've been waiting for RCR to come out on android for a while as I've loved it on my iPad but felt it would be a better 'fit' on a phone. So thanks to Toucharcade for being non-partisan about their love of mobile gaming and including bits of news on Android as well as iOS...

      • Prhaber

Of course I meant 'play mainly'....I'm not sure if I 'play manly' or not...

      • Buck Wheat

Then change the "about us" statement at the bottom of the website. It is missing the iPad anyway. Might as well change it to read " covers the latest in mobile gaming "

It currently states "TouchArcade covers the latest games and apps for Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch. We are the largest site dedicated to iPhone and iPod Touch gaming."

    • Jakeopp

Well then don't click the android articles? Why does it bother you? Lol

      • Buck Wheat

Did I state that it bothers me? Lol. I was just making a statement. Maybe they should update their about us to include all mobile gaming so search engines, such as google, will help android users find this site.

Android is as important as IPHONE .
