DeNA’s ‘Deckstorm: Duel of Guardians’ Is Shutting Down

TouchArcade Rating:

DeNA’s Deckstorm: Duel of Guardians (Free) is a CCG that tried to target players looking for more complexity from a card game and brought some clever ideas to the CCG formula. Unfortunately, with DeNA Western shutting down (which we wrote about recently), Deckstorm is following suit and shutting down operations soon. As posted in-game, starting today no more special events or new content will be added to the game, but at the same time the game has been balanced one last time to make its remaining days fun for current players. On October 31st the game will be removed from the App Store, and from that day onward, IAPs will be disabled but any previous purchases will remain available.

The servers will remain in operation until December 15th, so if you do enjoy playing the game, you have close to 2 months to enjoy it before it goes the way of the Dodo. The developers express their disappointment with the game’s demise just a couple of months after its launch and plan to offer current players a transition plan to other DeNA games, though no details on exactly how that will work. It’s a shame that Deckstorm will be shutting down because the developers obviously put a lot of work in it. Still, that is the way of the world, I guess.
