Star Trek TimelinesDisruptor Beam, the developer behind Game Of Thrones Ascent, is dipping into another extremely popular universe, Star Trek, to try and hopefully remedy the ills that have befallen on the franchise in the gaming world. The game will be called Star Trek Timelines, and as the title betrays, it takes place in a universe where a temporal anomaly brings together characters, settings, and stories from TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and ENT. In Star Trek Timelines, you take the role of a captain, gathering a crew of your favorite, or most-hated, Star Trek characters. If you know anything about the Star Trek universe, different crews have different ways of dealing with various challenges, some talk it out while others shoot it out. I expect the game to be similar to Game of Thrones Ascent with, hopefully, overall improvements to the game mechanics.

The team behind the game emphasizes in every opportunity that it consists of great fans of the show, so they want to really bring the core principles and viewpoints of Star Trek into the game: optimism for the future, belief in progress and equality, and a love for exploration. The game will also have a Conflict system, a system that will give players many choices as to how various conflicts should be resolved. The game will even include PvP and PvE Starship battles! Watch the video above to learn more about Disruptor Beam's vision of the game, and let's all hope that when the game lands (they are hoping for Fall 2015, but we'll see), we won't once more be disappointed. I'm an optimist, so I'm hoping we'll finally get a good Star Trek game on our most Star Trek- like devices, our iPads and iPhones.

Not Picard's fault! Would've been a tad different if it was Kirk.....

      Love you for saying that

I hope it's a good game. It's been years since I played a good Star Trek game (the one with the Voyager crew).

Oh this is wonderful. I loved Elite Force and Armada series of games. This will certainly bring back some wonderful memories. Im very much looking forward to this game. Wonderful. Thank you.

Elite Forces 1/2 were so good. They really captured how much of a jerk Tuvok really was..................."You require more training"

This looks great, I would love a good Star Trek game on iOS.

I think my Kindle e-reader is more Trek-like. Nobody on Trek had a phone.

So does their Game of Thrones game kind of suck? Cause if that sucks, I don't have much hope for this.

Jesus. You sound like you have nightmares about being chased around by a dictionary while the Chicago Manual of Style cackles evilly in the background.

2 grammatical errors (or 1 and 1 of vocabulary, depending on how you count it) in the first sentence. One vocabulary error in the second. A hilarious four commas in the third — try saying it aloud for maximum effect. Two grammatical errors in the fifth.

Don't write like your idea of how a smart person would write. You sound like a git. Write like you talk. And for Christ's sake get yourself a copy of Strunk and White. And an editor!

I'm not very convinced by the weapon effects in the video: the phasers beams seems too dim/thin, the torpedoes a little too glowing "bubbles", in the tv shows they were more like small bright dots with a glowing and shape-changing corona.
I'm assuming this is a licensed game, so I'm hoping the torpedoes shape will be revisited before release.

So is the gameplay basically just select your team and then auto-battle?
