Rodeo Games' excellent top-down strategy title Warhammer Quest [$4.99] has just gone free for the first time since its release almost a year ago. Warhammer Quest takes the same mechanics of Rodeo's previous Hunters games and sets it in Game Workshops' expansive Warhammer universe. We really loved the game in our review upon release, but Warhammer Quest has been updated and expanded significantly since then. There was a major update released this past October, followed by another one in December.

As mentioned, this is the first time the base game of Warhammer Quest has ever been free, but most of its additional content as well as much of what was in those two huge content updates is available as DLC. That's not to say that what you get for free isn't a complete, fully-featured game though, because it totally is. The IAP content is really just additional ways to enjoy the game, mostly reserved for the more hardcore fans, and none of it is required to enjoy Warhammer Quest. Definitely don't pass up this chance to download Warhammer Quest for free, and if you enjoy the experience you could always spring for more of the DLC extras.

One of my favourite all time iOS games the only bad side? I wish there was more of it so I could play endlessly.

  • ImJPaul

Not enough variation and was upset to see it was $5 for a new level and a few dollars for a few characters after the initial investment. This going free solves that. Game is pretty cool though for a bit. I loved the idea of turning the device to get to your inventory.

As someone who bought it day one, I'd personally rather have seen a sale on the DLC. Great game, but the cost of the add-on content gets pretty high pretty fast. I'd even welcome a $15-$20 "you get everything" package... $45 is just way too much to get all the DLC. Granted, single weapons or alternate characters are hardly necessary purchases... but the pricing model of them is still out of sync with my wallet in any event.

Argh... I got this at a dollar two month ago. And this will featured FREE App of the Week for sure. Absolutely must download this.

    • fearlesskk

Ur saying that like u regret cause its free... Bro it was 1$...

      • D R

And IAPs to complete the journey of $40+...

      • bored2death

Damn...so that's how much I spent on this game.

      • D R

        do tell...

    • VirtualBoyFreak

Nope, the featured free app of the week is Joe Dever's Lone Wolf. At least that's what I've just seen in the Spanish app store after reading your post and checking if it was or not...

      • dancj

Lone Wolf is for the week just about to end. Warhammer Quest is very likely for the week just about to begin.

Anyone who like RPGs should be jumping on this! Still a excellent game!

  • bigjack66

God this was awfull it has everything wrong that I hate about turned based games. The fact that you stand right next to an enemy and miss! Warhammer mobile games are terrible!

    • ste86uk

It's an amazing game, the missing is extremely frequent though but I still had no problems owning everything and getting the best items in the game.

    • dancj

People do miss or get blocked when trying to hit someone in real life.

  • thiagovscoelho

Aw, too bad I paid for it I guess. Though hey, if this game has multiplayer then that just means more people for the multiplayer!

  • Jake7905

Let's see..... I paid $5 on day one, then spent another $25 on DLC, and since then have seen it drop to $1 and now go free. Do I regret it? Not even a little. This is, in my opinion, one of the best IOS games ever produced, and one I've gotten countless hours of pleasure from.

    • Aventador

and you didn't wait a year for game to drop free

  • JJE McManus

    A must have game.
It can get a bit grindy and you really have to be in the mood for a Games Workshop experience. But at the right place, with a refreshing beverage and enough time to put your feet up and deal out some righteousness., you can't go wrong.
    Simply fabulous.

  • Siveon

Bought it for a buck. Lagged like hell on my iPhone 4.

From what I've played, it was way too simple. I also don't appreciate heroes being paid iap.

It was only a dollar, so I can't say I regret it. But I didn't have any fun with it. I will try it again later, I did enjoy their previous game, so maybe the fun from that will sink in after a while.

I bought this at full price when it first came out. It's a good game, but I remember it being very same-y and at times a bit grindy. It's very stingy with its loot drops. I sort of felt like they were baiting you to buy better weapons with IAP.

    • ste86uk

I never got any IAP weapons the in game items are better. Only ever got 1 character too

  • GforceUK

This was free sometime ago as I got it then!

    • Psac42

It was 99 cents a month ago, that's when I got it as well.

  • GforceUK

Or was it just reduced in price... I'm confused...

  • PlunderBunny

I'm seeing a reduction in price for all IAP except regions and ledendary weapons (8.52pm NZT).

  • Psac42

I'm playing the game now from the $0.99 sale, and the one huge problem I have with the game is the mid-dungeon monster drops that make you back-track three hallways to kill the monsters before you can go forward. And then before you get back through the three hallways again, more monsters drop that make you go back again. ARGH!!! Drives me crazy.

I'm tempted to drop the $10 for the two extra lands.

  • mothman99

I bought this when it first came out. It's still pretty fun - well worth downloading.

  • gmattergames

If you love this game and haven't played Rodeo's other series "Hunters", you owe it to yourself to check it out. The first Hunters game set the standard for iOS tb-tactical, heroesquest-like gameplay.
