Everyone was pretty sure that ZeptoLab's massive hit Cut the Rope would get a sequel at some point, and in late September, the developer officially confirmed that Cut the Rope 2 was in the works. Unlike Cut the Rope: Experiments and Cut the Rope: Time Travel, which were more spin-off pseudo-sequels, Cut the Rope 2 will be a proper sequel to the original featuring new characters, new gameplay elements and a new storyline. Apparently, that story revolves around the main protagonist OmNom getting kidnapped.

Cut the Rope 2 is said to be "coming soon" and with a planned holiday release window, time is quickly running out for it to hit that target. I'd suspect we'll be seeing the game launch in the next few weeks, but we'll bring you the official word if and when it's announced.

I'm tired of endless sequels just update the originals

    • benexclaimed

      That's silly.

    • themostunclean

Translation "I'm spoiled and I want stuff for free".

How do you expect developers to make any money if they just release free content for a game that's been around for over 3 years? The original Cut the Rope has seen tons of content updates so quit the whining.

      • rewindx

Well, he will get stuff for free because I'll betcha this is gonna be Free to Play.

      • themostunclean

Pretty sure you're wrong. None of the other CtR games have been free, they've all been premium. If it were going FtP then we would've heard about it by now. PvZ 2 going freemium was well known 2 months before release.

    • Taclys

Are you serious? As if Cut the Rope didn't get a legion of free updates.

      • philadendron

Seriously, I STILL haven't played all of the levels in the original. There are just so many.

  • Deixa

What's the point. Nothing original anymore. The AppStore just full of re-skins and copies.

All the money these devs made I'm sure they can come up with something original

    • Eseres

Well, considering that most games seems to be free to play, i don't think they make that much money. You're right about the "re-skinning" games part though. Soon, we've all played just about every game out there just by playing one single game. But every now and then a exellent premium game turns up :)
Personally, I had more than enough with the first Cut the Rope game, so I'll pass on the sequel.

      • Deixa

Free to play are mainly big games with good graphics, just to fool people in thinking the game is worth paying for iAPs. Look at angry birds, every game you have to pay for but angry birds go will be free. Why? New graphics! People will pay for upgrades and whatever else cause the game looks appealing.

The first cut the rope won some award for best game mechanics (I think), then they went on to making couple more cut the ropes. We filled their pockets with money.

So they probably will do well with this. I'd be surprised if they made it free to play

      • Th3R3n3gad3

Dead trigger is a excellent example for this/

  • Mess

Not sure what they are going to add to this to make it appealing. Got the original, but didn't see the point in any of the other 'sequels'

Also what's up with releasing two "sequels" to a game, that aren't sequels?

  • ODMay

Can there still be an Angry Birds 2?

  • Taclys

Uh oh, I'm the odd guy here who's actually excited for this. Probably one of my favorite simple puzzler games, I've got most all the Cut the Rope games. At least it takes some thinking power, unlike Angry Birds.

Nooooooooooooooo Give OmNom back! We must save him! OmNom4President 2016.

  • Jxsgamer

Damn, I wish someone would swipe their finger and cut that rope!
