Ok, let's keep this short and sweet as we've covered Oceanhorn extensively in the past already. But after all the teasing publisher FDG Entertainment had been doing surrounding the release date of this highly-anticipated action RPG, I figured some of you out there would like to know that they've officially nailed down the release date of Oceanhorn as November 14th. That's this Thursday, but as savvy iOS gamers already know, that means it will actually start making its way across international App Stores early Wednesday morning before arriving in the US App Store at around 11pm EST tomorrow night.

Also worth noting is that the price for Oceanhorn will be $8.99. This is for what has been pegged as a 10+ hour experience, and as previously stated there will be no form of in-app purchases whatsoever. For all those people who are salty towards the free-to-play trends and beg for a "pay once for a full game" experience, now is the time to put your money where your mouth is. If something as attractive as Oceanhorn can't do well at a sub-ten dollar price point, well, let's just say we've got a lot more virtual coins and timers in our gaming futures.

Of course, that all depends on if Oceanhorn is actually a good game and all, but so far it appears that it will be more than up to expectations. It's just a short wait now, so in the meantime be sure to see what's going on in Oceanhorn's forum thread.

  • Vicente Ragal

So glad the game isn't free. Looks absolutely fantastic. Way to go FDG!

  • michaelfields

    Insta-buy.

  • fdmstryct

    Fuckin' A!

    • Broli95

      FUCKIN' TRIPLE A!

  • ANIMALCHOPPINGS

I think I really like the $8.99 price point. Seems fair as a "premium" game, and closer to a PC style price point.

    • JJE McManus

I'm ok with the price but I will wait for a review or a TA Plays
      But I'm expecting wonderfulness.

      • toxiccheese

Yep, I'm willing to pay the price, but only if it's a well reviewed game. I'll need to see a few reviews first.

  • iPhallex

Ermagerrrrrd! I've been waiting for this game since TA first covered it. I believe we can all agree with the statement: "Shut up and take my money!"

    • YourAverageDude

I've been waiting so long I'm almost sad to see it arrive and end the excitement of waiting. If that makes sense.

      • Ozzy111

I know it does to me to.

  • Gurney Halleck

I am so ready to grab this up! I am a confident early adopter with this title and expect to press the buy button the moment it appears! With titles like this coming up I am excited more than ever for iOS gaming! Now my go to mobile gaming platform :)

  • PresidentZer0

Exited. I hope it will have Mfi controller support in the future.

    • brydude111

They said it does on twitter

  • Theifokit

Anyone know the install size yet. But 9 bucks is a lot more reasonable than 15. So probably getting this.

    • InkyTheGhost

Pretty sure they said 300mb, which is hard to believe, and really impressive.

      • Elmo Rabisto

I do remember the times when smash hit games were under 10MBs...

  • InkyTheGhost

The next 36 hours are going to draaaaag. More excited for this than I was for IB3, and I'm so happy that they are charging a premium price. Time to vote with your dollar folks!

  • Kugiro

    Hmmm 8.99.....
I think I paid the same for such epic games as BGEE and KOTOR so I will wait for the initial impressions.

    • shieldser99

      BGEE?

      • bigballer

        Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition

  • AngryBaby

I don't know what an 'Oceanhorn' is but I can't wait to find out!

    • PresidentZer0

Some kind of a ocarina :P

    • Jxsgamer

Didn't they said it was a name of a sea monster? :)

      • YourAverageDude

Yes they said that about 1.2 billion years ago when the games first concept art was uploaded to a cave wall and all of us began to impatiently wait for it to be released

  • renatpl

Will play this all day for days

    • mantenner

Hate to tell you but it said 10+ hours, that generally means 10 - 15. If you play this "all day" your gonna complete it in half a day, space it out man

  • Deixa

I'll be deleting IB3 once this comes out!

    • shieldser99

      What's IB3?

      • Mnoz

        Infinity Blade 3, duuuh.

      • Brown Cow

Sequel to Irritable Bowel 2. It's the shit.

    • defunct32

Somewhere, someplace unknown Ausar is crying and Isa is struggling to comfort him. Y U DELETING IB3? LMAO!

      • chaos_envoys

face it Ausar, the final game in your trilogy sucks!!!

  • B30

Thank god no freemium crap, insta-buy upon first sight.

  • brydude111

    I'm ready

  • Will Buckingham

Wow, at times I wondered if this game was going to end up vaporware. I'll definitely be picking it up when it launches, as it's been on the periphery for seemingly years now.

  • defunct32

That would be $10 here, plus/minus. Fair price. I wonder how much Lone Wolf will be?

  • Topbeast

Ipod touch 5? Or only ipad/iphone?

    • Zeldaniac

They've stated that it will support iPod touch 4 (WOOHOO) so it should run fine for you.

      • Topbeast

        Thanks :D

  • Goggles789

    Christmas is coming early.

  • falco

I will support this, Its goona be a fun game to play!

  • Liv Games

Been waiting for this forever! Will go nice on my ipad mini retina :D

  • vic_viper_001

Oh, I'll definitely put my money where my mouth is!

  • Mandi

This is seriously the best/most expensive week of gaming ever! I'm definitely getting this, lone Wolf, and Stealth Inc. tomorrow, but jeez, did it half to happen on Ps4 launch week? Oh my poor wallet!

    So excited!

    • Jake7905

      Don't forget about Epoch 2!

      • Mandi

        Gah! You're right!

  • gamergirl2785

    Insta buy!!

  • jamessh1

Excited for impressions. Will likely wait for a sale given the current gaming backlog and next gen arriving quickly.

  • Steven Lewis

Sounds great, but I will wait for the TA review or at least some solid forum impressions from level-headed posters.

  • rewyan

I'll wait until the game fails because of a price point that's too high for a mobile game these days, and then goes on sale.

    • Brown Cow

Yeah, nine bucks is like SO MUCH MONEY. Seriously, if you want the game, just skip your next Run for the Border and pay the developers the price they're asking. You'll make it. I promise.

    • sivad

      You're an idiot

    • vic_viper_001

Whatever floats your boat. Just don't come crying to us when all that's left on the App Store are nickel-and-diming freemium games.

    • Skullinton

Guess which game with a price tag above average didn't fail on the appStore.. One hint it starts with X and finishes with COM. Also, this is one of many others, it's just the most obvious one.

  • Bool Zero

Don't care how much it costs, I am of the mind that I am prepared to spend quite a bit of money this week on the releases!

  • Inaba-kun

Nice looking environments, but let down by truly awful character animation. Shame.

    • http://www.fdg-entertainment.com Future777

The character animation wasn't final in the teaser trailer. It looks much better in the release version.

    • Ozzy111

Who gives its about the actual adventure and side quests that matter.

      • Inaba-kun

What an inane response. Of course graphics matter.

  • eventide

Most here know my initially calm and then angry anticipation but that finally ends...and I'm kinda sad lol. At least ill have the game to keep me calm :p And then Zelda ALBW in a few weeks!

  • mindseyes

    SOLD YAY!!

  • Lazer Kat

What sucks, is even this game could be ruined by freemium.
I honestly believe this game will be worth $9, and probably double that...
But more than likely we will be punished as early adopters, when:
    - two weeks later it drops to $5.99
    - one month later it drops to $3.99
    - a few months after that they make it free, with a ton of IAPs.

I hope this doesn't happen, but its like a never-ending cycle.
We are screwed by freemium games, and then were screwed by premium games because of freemium games making the market so difficult.

Sadly no one wants to pay $9 for "just a game" anymore.
Most products get more expensive over time.
When I was 7, Zelda cost me $60.
Now I'm $33 and no one would buy the mobile port for $10.

    • Lazer Kat

      Now that I'm *33
      Not $33.

  • galaxy124

I will pay max. 99 cents for a mobile game. 9 euro is way too much. Maybe in a couple of months the price will reduce to 99 cents. Than I concider to buy it.

    • Lazer Kat

And you, my friend, are cancer.

      • TheBitPilot

Most people think like him. They're all cancer!!

    • sivad

You make me wish I wasn't human

  • Sebastian Gomez

    Insta-buy... As well as EPOCH 2 :O

  • 28monkeys

I am going put my money where my mouth is. Thats be my food !!

  • Kane

Just woke up and saw this post... Going back to sleep, because I think it is a joke.

  • Tanc24

I'll wait for about 1 week before diving in and buying this. 8.99 will be the most I've ever paid for an app, but if the reviews are half as good as the hype, it should be money well spent.

    My concerns/questions about the game:
    1) variety. From what I've seen all the lands look the same. Curious to see if the game holds peoples attention
    2) length. 10 hours estimated. doesn't strike me as a very long game. We're only talking 9 bucks here but still...
    3) puzzles- I'm hopeful there is a fair degree of puzzle solving. I always liked raft aspect of the Zelda games versus simply crushing monsters the whole time.

Regardless, we will know soon just how awesome (or unawesome!) this game is....

  • spokentruths772

This is random but i really love the way the water sounds on this game it's so......relaxing

  • blackbear219

I went to Taco Bell on my lunch break today and bought one of those triple steak stack things and a soda. It was 7 bucks or so, rounding up.

The gas for my truck was probably a buck and I think I dropped a buck in the parking lot.

Next time, I'm just gonna buy this game instead and have a f***load of fun for 10+ hours.

  • PSquared

Many people have been clamoring for premium games with one time fees and no IAP's. I am one of those people. I have happily bought a number of premium games including Xcom: EU.

With that said the original post by toucharcade is ridiculous to say, ' you want premium games here is your chance to support them!'. Why is this ridiculous? Even premium games need to be priced appropriately for the playtime they offer. $9 for a game that lasts 10 hours is a ridiculous rip off.

Perhaps there is more content then we are aware of. Perhaps there are more modes then we are aware of and the replay ability adds a great deal of time in repeat plays. Perhaps there are more side quests and mini games available then we are aware of.

All we can do now is work on the stated factual information we have and we know to be true. That is, $9 for ten hours of game. This is a price that any fanboy may be willing to pay because they are fanboys and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. For the vast majority of gamers, however, $9 for ten hours is definitely and unquestionably a giant ripoff. I know I've gotten 60+ hours from xcom. I've gotten 40+ hours out of my $5 jump jack x purchase. I've gotten 40+ hours out of $5 terraria. I've already got 15 hours out of $2 meltdown that just CW out in the past two weeks.

Again, I love premium games and I fully support them but $9 for ten hours.... That is neither fair nor reasonable pricing... Which I say sadly as I have had high hopes for this game for quite a long time now.

    • Rooie1154

But a movie is going to cost you this much or more...for two hours entertainment that you can't revisit unless you pony up for a second ticket. Ten+ hours of entertainment! that you can replay if you want seems like a much better deal.

    • Lazer Kat

I completely disagree with you. I'm busy, I work full time, go to college, and have two daughters who are both toddlers.
I'm glad you can spend 40+ hours in a $5 game, but me..,nope, not a chance.
Me, I'd much rather have a 10 hour game that amazes me those ten hours, than a 40+ hour monotonous grind fest that gives me nothing new but level ups.

Ill gladly pay $9 for a 10 hour game, and would much rather do so than spend $2 for a game where I dig for months on end.

Ive bought console games for $60 with only a 10 hour campaign, and didn't regret the purchase.

      • Lazer Kat

Hell, I have a shelf full if $20 blu-rays and DVDS I've watched once. 2 hours and done.

  • Chong Zhi Rui

Are you serious an app for 8.99?

  • shaymon

Ten hours will be base. IMO $9 is fair. How many hours do you recall The original Zelda taking? Zelda can be played through in a few hours....

To each his own but I would rather pay an upfront cost then to be nickel and dimed by iap. I'll give them 9 bucks for their hard work over the past couple years and if the game is good, I'll pay another few bucks for additional story/content.

I paid $60 bucks for rpg games with 30 hours of content.

Not to mention 9 bucks puts it on my kid's iPads as well ;) so that makes it a $3 game for me!

On a side note...did they ever say what that image translated to? The November Rain one?

  • chamillion205

I will definitely be buying this on release day.... Already made space for it on my ipad (and epoch 2)!!!!

  • Elmo Rabisto

I'm tempted to buy the real thing for Wii from the discount bin for the same price...

  • theundertow

    iTunes credit ready and willing.

  • TomasEriksson

Does it have support for iCade?
