Back in early March we told you about Zynga's upcoming Temple Run-style game called Running With Friends, which was just entering a beta period in the Canadian App Store. Early today, Running With Friends [Free / Free (HD)] bid adieu to its limited beta launch and is now available in the US App Store and internationally. VentureBeat has uploaded an official trailer, check it out.

So, endless runners, ya'll. By now you know what they are, you've likely played many different kinds, and here's a new one from Zynga. I'm not really sure what else there is to say on the matter. Running With Friends is free for iPhone or iPad, so you can just download it and try it yourself if you're dying for a new endless runner, or check out the forums for discussion.

My cat's breath smells like cat food.

    • Zeldaniac

...am I stupid? Cause I don't get this.

      • blackharon

        Simpsons. Classic

      1. feed a fish on dry rose petals
      2. feed cat with fish
      3. smell cat`s breath
      4. eat fish remains

I decided to give it a shot since the trailer gave me the small hope that it might be fun, i opened it, it asked for Facebook or email. I closed the app. I deleted it.

      What a nightmare.

      • one.sixty.four

        Is that sarcastic?

      • Alex

        Yes, yes it is.
The fact is, TONS of games, services, websites, ask for facebook or e-mail to register to use their service or play. If you haven't created a spam e-mail by now, you're missing out on a lot of great stuff for no significant reason. Even xbox asks you to create an account and asks for e-mail verification for purchases and you can't use xbox live without it, so...

But to each their own. That's the beauty of choice.

      • Galenmereth

Don't think we're missing out on anything, to be honest.

      • touchchamp

        Glad you speak for everyone.

      • one.sixty.four

Oh, I have a spam email address, I just don't want to give it to ZYNGA. I was using the Facebook/ email requirement as proof that even from the start of their new game they where already being all zynga-y.

  • Me

So, this happened. Zynga made a new game. A new "with friends" game. An endless runner. A clone of a better endless runner. None of this is surprising or interesting anymore.

I hope the Phoenix Wright games come to iPad soon. Nice weather here.

Earth shatteringly original, no doubt in line for seriously good reviews which should encourage them to make yet more mind numbing clones of prior successful titles. And then at least 80% of indie developers will consider cloning the clone, but only 5% will do so within a year. 10% will do so in a few years time, and then everyone will call it fresh and original. 100% of this post has 100% made up statistics, but only 50% of you will agree with this.

      • cameron331

        That was 100% annoying.

      • dariusjr98

You are a 100% douche, and I'm 30% trough Star Command. (Get the joke?)

    • Guest

I didn't use a single statistic, made-up or otherwise, in my comment. I'm not sure what you're referring to at all.

      • Me

Who are you talking to? What post of yours didn't have a statistic? I don't even see a post from you.

  • Vesper

So this is Temple Run with Subway Surfers lane mechanic and Zynga's typical turn based multiplayer system. It's actually not bad. But nothing new either.

  • http://twitter.com/SquaredApe Robert Cummings

*vomits uncontrollably at yet another with friends game*

  • Niall

    Zynga. MEH.

  • korkidog

    I'm done with runners.

    • one.sixty.four

It is never a good idea to close out a whole genre. You never know what might come out.

  • QWERTYthebold

It reminds me of Nintendo games. I like it. Although I'll probably still end up deleting it because I don't play endless runner games.

  • Doom

With all the people that say they hate endless runners..wonder why they keep making em?
I must be the only one left that loves the challenge of endless, but sadly doubt I will try this one.

  • http://www.facebook.com/nadav.barkama Nadav Bar Kama

very true. nothing to say. typical zynga model: copy, but not as good ...

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Das-Kuhein/749994392 Das Kuhein

    Go home Zynga, you're drunk!

  • Scape3d

I don't like Zynga or endless runners for that matter but I am having a bit of fun with this one because I'm actually playing against other people. There's a purpose there, something that's missing for me in all other endless runners. I guess it's the "endless" part that makes these games seem useless and without direction.

  • sagek

Absolutely tasteless! it's based on the Bull-related "festivities" that take place once a year in Pamplona, Spain... those poor bulls suffer all sorts of injuries and psychological stress, many die. Next up, Zynga's Abortion.. with friends!

Guilty secret ... I actually REALLY like the music in the game! And despite being a rip-off of other games, I'm having a lot of fun playing it and I find the bull running theme quite original.
