Coming Tonight: 'Block Fortress', 'Jones on Fire', 'Journey to Hell', 'Sonic Dash' and Tons More

First off, apologies for this post being a little later than usual. Weather in the Chicago area here has been insane the last couple days. Anyway, on the glorious world of the Internet where I don't need to deal with two foot deep snow drifts there's a whole load of awesome games coming. Like every week before this one, all of these games should be available at 11:00 PM eastern.

Astro Shark HD, 99¢ - Forum Thread - A physics-y space game where you play as an interstellar shark trying to save the Russian space dog Laika.

Block Fortress, $1.99 - Forum Thread - The oddly compelling combination of Mincraft, tower defense, and first person shooters. It sounds insane, and I can't wait to play it.

Fury of the Gods, 99¢ - Forum Thread - A god-themed tower defense game that looks pretty wicked in screenshots but only makes me want a proper iOS port of Black and White that much more. Who is with me on that?!

Hungry Gows, Free - Forum Thread - If you have room in your heart for one more physics puzzler, this one seems pretty cute and also happens to be free.

Infinity Space, 99¢ - Forum Thread - I'm getting some serious Space Miner vibes from this game, which is a very good thing.

Jones on Fire, Free - Forum Thread - An endless cat-saver? Can you hear that? It's the return of Jared's Kitty Korner.

Journey to Hell, $3.99 - Forum Thread - Our forum members are incredibly excited for this shooter, and for good reason, it looks awesome. If you've found yourself mad about free to play games, here's a premium shooter for you.

Knitted Deer, 99¢ - Forum Thread - It's hard to say if there's more to this game than the gimmick of its art style, but I've got to say, that's one heck of a gimmick.

Liberation Maiden, $4.99 - Forum Thread - I'm really, really excited for this game. The screenshots look great, the production value seems out of this world, I just hope it's fun to play.

Melodive, 99¢ - Forum Thread - A musical "remained flight simulator"? If you're into the weird offerings of the App Store, this is right up your alley.

Metal Slug X, $3.99 - Forum Thread - I imagine this is much like the other iOS Metal Slug ports in that if you can hang with the virtual controls it's going to be a ton of fun.

Monster Meltdown, $1.99 - Forum Thread - 80 levels of saving weird monsters as a dude named Yuri who can teleport all over the place.

Outland Games, 99¢ - Forum Thread - If you're a fan of Monday Night Combat, you need this game as it takes place in the same universe. If you've never heard of Monday Night Combat, well, here's a neat runner.

Sneezies Match, Free - Forum Thread - A free puzzler utilizing the Sneezies from, well, The Sneezies.

Sonic Dash, $1.99 - Forum Thread - While I'm not blown away to have another Temple Run-derivative on the App Store, it's just nice to see an iOS Sonic game that has Sonic doing something that makes sense. RUNNING! Wow!

    I have to get sonic just because its sonic and the graphics look great. Fury of the gods looks pretty interesting and block fortress but I've never been into minecraft. The spaceship game seems like an endless runner spaceship style.

        Honestly I actually have no imagination. I was glued to WoW but a nephew of mine can do amazing things with his. He must have the patience of a saint.

        The dimension of not wanting to buy a game I might or might not like when I still for the life of me figure out what it IS, besides an ugly lego simulator.

        It's not an "ugly Lego simulator." Graphics don't make a game. Minecraft is an experience like no other, it's not just a game. It promotes complex thinking and coaches aspiring architects. I could name a million things that is good about Minecraft, but sadly, a lot of people like you just give it a label of an ugly Lego simulator, which is sad.

        I meant to say "can't for the life of me figure it out". I've never played it, only some knockoffs, and have never seen a demo available. All I know is if you search for Minecraft, you mostly see pics of stuff people built, like with Legos, in the game. I guess that's not so different from Morrowind and the endless "pillow fortresses" ;) I want to understand it, but Mojang doesn't seem to feel like adequately describing his game. Oh, there is that demo for Minecraft pocket, but I haven't tried it. And reading long webpages describing the game kills my 20/400 vision eyes. If I saw an instruction manual...on PAPER, maybe I would have a clue what the game is all about. Though I am pretty bad at doing things usually done in real life (building, playing musical instruments, photo editing which I once did on a light table, etc) on a 2-dimensional screen.

        To put it briefly, your comment is what I'm talking about. What. Is. Minecraft? I don't want to be lavished with what could pass for a description of high-concept art; I just want to know what you DO. Besides the Lego part, since that's about all I know. Oh, and breaking stuff to get stuff to craft into other stuff.

        What is Minecraft? Well, put simply:

        You start with nothing. You punch a tree and get wood. You use said wood to craft tools and construct a home. This home protects you from the monsters that come out at night. From there, you continue to gather more wood, stone, dirt, sand, and gravel throughout the day, and hide in your home at nighttime. Eventually, you dig down into the earth and mine precious resources; such as iron, gold, and diamond. You use these to make better tools, to ultimately make mining and crafting faster and more efficient. Then, after you've built a massive fortress and acquired all the greatest equipment, you create a portal and travel to another dimension known as "The End". There, you battle a great Dragon while attempting to destroy his energy towers. If you are victorious, you will have successfully beaten Minecraft =^)

      Looks that way to me mostly which is why I'm uncertain but then I like chillingo and the graphics. I'll wait and see.

    I like how the explanation for the first game was worded and there were no questions. Just a flying space shark trying to save his dog. Nbd. In other news, I love that iOS gaming is back strong. This is a lovely sight.

        It was amazingly glitchy and crash-prone, even after several patches. It was also one of many games wherein Peter Molyneux promised the world and delivered a lackluster product. The spellcasting gesture system would work great on touchscreens, though.

      I was hoping for NQ. Every time one of the devs posts a gameplay video on twitter it makes me hopeful, then sad when it's not in the TA wednesday lineup :(

    You know, I think I'm getting that Sonic game. It -looks- like Sonic to me, and the video in the forum thread actually has me pretty stoked. It looks pretty fluid, everything seems as Sonic-y as can be... it seems legit. Certainly $2 legit.

    I like how devs cater to the press like we see in jones on fire, infinite warrior, and blocks cometh. gonna pick up a few of these, but it seems like a somewhat unstellar week.
