Christmas is just a day away, and with a ton of people sure to have shiny new iOS devices waiting for them under the tree there will no doubt be a lot of people looking for games to try out on their latest toy. While we'll be highlighting all of the best iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad games from 2010 in future posts, there are currently a ton of deals to be had on both new and old games alike.

Indie Games Holiday Sale - We posted about this sale a few days ago, but it's worth mentioning again. Six fantastic games from independent developers, all priced at 99¢, with one third of the proceeds going to Child's Play Charity. Every game on this list is excellent, and worth owning or gifting to an iOS-toting friend or family member:

  • Drop7, (Universal) $2.99 → 99¢

EA Mobile - Another sale that we've posted about previously, but EA has added some additional titles effectively putting everything they have on the App Store at a discount. Check out this massive list of 99¢ games from EA, and note the additional titles on sale below:

Capcom -

Square Enix -

Sega -

Namco -

Miscellaneous Sales -

During the annual App Store lockdown that should last from today until next Thursday, these prices should remain in effect. But, as always, the App Store is a strange mistress, and it's always best to double check that the prices you see here are still current before purchasing. Of course, the best way to stay current on updates and price drops is to use the universal AppShopper app [Link],, or our Price Drops and Freebies forum. But you already knew that, didn't you? Hopefully everyone finds at least something on this list to purchase, and saves a bit of money in the process. Happy holidays and happy gaming!

  • Bobwocky

Me no know none of dat!

  • Thomas Ryan

Thank you for this list. Picked up Canabalt, Street Fighter IV and Super Monkey Ball 2. All games I had been waiting on a price drop before purchasing.

  • tsharpfilm

Mirror's Edge, the king and mother of most running games, is also $0.99.

    • Jared Nelson

That's on the other EA sale post linked in the article. I just linked it because I didn't want this thing to grow to be too huge [Insert that's what she said joke here]

      • tsharpfilm

        Hahaha. (:D Understandable.

Of the sales listed here, I'd recommend Solipskier, FIFA 11, and Chaos Rings. After the updates and fixes, FIFA 11 has become one of the best football games in the App Store. And Chaos Rings, though easy in parts, is one of the most refined turn-based RPG experiences I've ever had on a mobile device.

I may finally breakdown and get Street Fighter IV. But I'm going to try to resist temptation, and save my money for Deep Space and/or The Shadow Sun.

      • bones boy

I just bought Chaos Rings based on your recommendation. Hope it's good! 🙂

  • Chris Matchett

FYI not ALL EA games are on sale in all areas. Results vary between app stores and platforms.

  • Hermber

    thank you for the list.
Bought Super Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball2 and yesterday Uber Racer 3D - Sandstorm this is price dropped to 1,99 $.

  • GiHubb

Solomon's Keep is one of the best iPhone games to date and it's ridiculous it's given away for free.

    • Anonymous

I thought it was terribly dull, to be honest. Mindless dark rooms continuing forever. Didn't do it for me. But it seems popular in some circles.

  • Oldman What

Yeah, Uber Racer 3D has a sale/introductory price and it's so sweet.

I'm getting PS2 Colin McCrae flashbacks, but it's wrapped in a Mad Max shell.

Great graphics, looks like it should be arcadey, but drives like a rally sim.

WRC should seriously licence that engine. I'll write a review, but it's Christmas eve here in Oz and I'm busy as.

Oh the challenging, drifty joy of having to actually set up corners and trying to clip that perfect apex.

  • Matt

Don't forget ZombieSmash! HD. On sale for 66% OFF for .99 over the holidays..

  • Rasmus Andersson

"Christmas is just a day away"

What?! Blasphemer. It shall be celebrated on the 24th of December, at Christmas Eve.

  • Chris

I wish I Dig It HD was on sale for .99 like you mention in your list. However in the app store it's 2.99 so you might want to fix that.

    • Jared Nelson

      Fixed, thanks.

  • shpyo

    Awesome drops! Thanks for info!

All of which are owned by the same company. I think you forgot that little disclaimer, which the FTC requires. Google "The FTC’s Revised Endorsement Guides"

Space Invaders Infinity is pretty awesome. If you like that top down style of space shooter I would also recommend a game called Hoverdroidz. It's more of a survival game with a large level you can explore in any direction.
