This morning some cryptic information was posted to the Square Enix Facebook page this morning regarding what appears to be an upcoming RPG for the iPhone. The only details provided with the screenshot are as follows:

According to the info that I've got, various characters can be generated from your "voice". Please wait for the official announce for the detail. I'll keep you updated.

This isn't the first time Square Enix has utilized sounds to generate characters in a game, as the entire gimmick behind Song Summoner was using your music to generate allies to assist you in battle. We should know more soon, as I doubt they'd release this information without more details in the pipe. We'll follow up as soon as we hear more.

huh, that would be an interesting concept. I wonder if you could mess with your voice to change the outcome. Well, a new square enix game is good news no matter what.

If it's as disappointing as Song Summoner was, count me out. But do count me in for the port of Final Fantasy Tactics.

That's exactly what I was going to say. I haven't played FF Tactics since the PS1 days and would love to give that remake a go.

Agreed. They need to stop with this fail idea. Any game ever released for the iDevice that uses your sound (music or voice) to generate anything for gameplay has always been a massive flop. Let it go developers. It's a bad concept.

I wonder if they mean you can record your own battle cries?

I think the key here is that voice is in quotations.

Song Summoner (which I really love) doesn't actually scan your music; it creates a unit based on track name, BPM, genre, etc.

So I'm thinking this game might base stats on the volume and pitch of your voice? Seems likely.

It's an interesting premise but I'm not exactly motivated to find out more about it :/

Seriously? Where is the news about Final Fantasy Tactics that was suppose to come out over a month ago? Cmon Square

    • EastsideStompers

judging from the screen shot that they let out in the open, I'd say we've got a looooong way to go before that ends up in our hands.

      • Kungfosk8r

True it really didn't look good.
I just wish square would update more, tell me its a month or two out or some sort of information so I don't check the app store every other day!

Hmm, wonder what the sound 'fap fap fap' will get me?

Square is quickly becoming a joke of a company on the handheld market. The FFT and Secret of Mana ports are looking more and more like Vaporware with their absurdly long development time with no info other than cryptic teasers every now and then. And now that seems even more the case if they are trying to use the random "video" of those 2 supposed ports to generate enthusiasm for something gimmicky like this game.

Kinda funny ... 'development time' on a game that was released a few years ago (and in many cases) 10+ years ago

    Just release FFT already.

Think about it.. FFT Lions was delayed... here's a thought... take everyone off THIS FUGLY GARBAGE, and put them on FFT

      Get your S together Square!!

Yeah it's called Voice Fantasy. characters are generated by the volume and pitch of your voice. After generating a character with your voice or friends Voice you can catch them fight. You can save and rename characters but there is no direct control. It's fun to watch them fight though as they use the voice you used to summon them when they attack. I'm not sure it's worth 300 something yen but I can't say it's not kinda interesting.
