Tony Hawk Goes Rogue, Announces 'Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2' for iPhone via Twitter

Back in May of last year a mysterious video appeared on YouTube showing a surprisingly full featured port of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 for the iPhone. The next day, the developers clarified that while the game was running amazingly on the iPhone, it was unlikely to ever see the light of day. Disappointed, we eventually just gave up on waiting for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 to be released.
Here is a copy of the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 video, although since it was ripped from YouTube and re-uploaded, the quality seems to have taken a substantial hit:
As you can see in the screenshots, it seems that the controls have seen a major overhaul following the initial release of the video. According to Tony Hawk's twitter feed, the game is real, and is going to be available soon.
As someone who played the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 until I broke my Nintendo 64 controller, I cannot wait. We will post any other details we're able to dig up on the game in the future.
Hellz yes. Metacritic gave this a score of 98 – the BEST score ever for a PSONE game. Love this and we should be lucky to get it.
I'm extremely excited for this as well! Tony Hawk was, and still is, a favorite series of mine, especially the first 4. =]

looks great. I love when tried and tested games are re-released on the ipod. It was fun to see driver. Now this… what about interstate 76??
BTW – was it really necessary to have cutaways of the guy playing the iphone? So THAT'S what i'll look like on the subway…

This would be awesome! The early tony hawks were the best. But really? I mean cmon, Where's Dave Mirra BMX? Now that's what I'm talking about!
But seriously this would be nice, depends on the controls, if they can nail em like Capcom nailed street fighter, I'm sold.
Out of all of the THPS series, this one is still the best, to this day. I still play it. Can't wait for an iPhone version.

I disagree. The third was brilliant and the fourth was well done. Underground 1 and 2 were no way near as good, but still fun. After that it went downhill, with Tony Hawk Ride hitting rock bottom.

Ah yes. THPS2 saw some serious DC play time. I'm sure it'll see similar play on my iPhone… if not more. The DC was chained to a TV. The iPhone goes everywhere. Dangerous…
hop they manage to nail the controls on this. loved the first 4 in the series but this was prolly ma favorite.

I loved this game so much as a kid.
The person demonstrating sucks. I am much better than that. I hope it works for the iphone because it didn't look like it was right at all, or the person playing it was just plain horrible. I miss this game, it was my favorite game on the Playstation, next to Emperor's New Groove

The Dreamcast version of the game was the best of all time for me.
