The selection of games going free for Appvent Calendar has been pretty amazing. As the popularity of the phenomenon has spread, more than one developer has gotten involved each day and made their games free temporarily.

Imp or Oaf may not be for everyone but it's got a certain charm. Imp or Oaf is a guessing game where you must guess if the image you're looking at is of an imp or an oaf. Normal price is $0.99.

The Inferno is a top down-puzzle game which will have players adventuring through all five circles of hell collecting souls, avoiding obstacles, and hopefully reaching the exit of each level before running out of lives and/or time. The 50 level pack is normally priced at $0.99 and is free for today.

IsoWords is a Boggle-like word game where your job is to find as many words as possible within a given time period. The twist is that the letters are found on parts of a cube that is slowly eliminated. A neat game concept that's actually pretty fun. Normal price is $1.99 but Free today.

Meanwhile, BlackSmithGames, the organizers of AppventCalendar, have released their own game to the App Store. Plushed is a side scrolling platformer with a remarkable style and is available for $1.99. We previewed this lovely game back in August, and will have a full review soon.

The art direction (images, sounds, music) of Imp or Oaf is SO FANTASTIC.
I just still don't get exactly what an Imp or Oaf is :) So please, please use this style of a "real" game! This would be sooo wonderful.

I posted this in the forums a few minutes ago:

So (drum roll) here's a hint that will make your life a little easier and will allow you get a lot more 'badges'...increasing your score:

    Imps usually have pointy noses.

Sounds random...but it will help a lot. There are definite things that imps have and oafs don't (and that oafs have and imps don't) that make them easy to tell apart! It's not random ;)

Yes. Pointy noses, pointy ears, pointy fingers - generally, imps have angular features and oafs have roundish ones.

The game gives you sample images to start off with, so you can look at them and see.

What's tricky is that the guys often appear with a pet - so seeing a round ear doesn't guarantee its an oaf. (If the ear is on the pet.)
