'Paperboy' Trailer and Release Date Announced
posted by Eli Hodapp on December 17th, 2009 5:18 PM EST in $4.99, Action, Games, Retro, Upcoming Games, iPhone games, iPod touch gamesLast week we reported on news that Paperboy was coming to the App Store. Featuring both a "classic" and a newly re-imagined 3D mode, this 1984 arcade game should be a perfect fit amongst other retro games that have made their way to the iPhone.
Also, according to developers Elite Systems, the English version of game will go live on the App Store tomorrow for $4.99 with non-English versions being released after the New Year. Needless to say, we'll post more once we have the game in our hands.

OMG, Paperboy is one of my favorite arcade games evar. This will be mine…oh yes…it will be…
This has been a great December
Game looks great, I'll definitely be getting this one.
Glad the classic mode is there… phew!
Looking forward to picking this one up tomorrow… Can't wait!!!
*Is tempted to get Paperboy and his Game Gear out*
Definitely prefer the "classic" version. Wouldn't have minded them updating the music with the same tune but with modern production techniques.
Just because it was made a long time ago, doesn't make it classic.
Just sayin..
Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
LOL! No kidding.
This remake looks veeery indie
Nothing wrong with indie games as long as they're good.
$4.99 is a little steep though.
$4.99? Yeah its a bit much, ill check it after a price drop…as classic as it is, I hope there are some surprises within the game to give it some replayability
Brings back memories of when you could ride your bike on the sidewalk.
Eh, personally I think 4.99 is steep for this game. It doesn't have much replay value.
yeah, it just has big name and nostalgia factor, similar with Dragon's Lair. But then there are always nostalgic people like me who fall into the trap.
Used to play this for hours on my Atari Lynx!
Yep, a classic!
Best. December. EVAR. Another classic comes back, and despite the transition to 3D it remains very faithful to the original. Awesome.
I'm just fine shelling out $5 for this. I paid more for the handheld cart when I was collecting Lynx games a few years back.
It's five bucks people. For less than the price of a cup of starbucks you get paperboy in your pocket. Stop being so **** cheap. Not every game can be 99 cents.
I don't know how any of you afford your iDevices when you're whining about 5 bucks…
Starbucks is only $2 a cup here – AND you get free WiFi too!
There's being cheap, and then there's avoiding ripoffs!
Worth purchasing, purely for nostalgia, in the January sales!
I remember paying over 30 bucks for this on the Sega MasterSystem! Times have changed.
That looks pretty cool.
Too bad you can't choose the C64 version of the Music to go with it though…lol. That was my favorite version out of all of them.

Retro Gamer magazine Issue #70 (current as I type this) has a large feature on Paperboy, for anyone interested.
