Rake in Grass recently released their latest iPhone game Undercroft, an old-school styled turn based RPG. The game has been receiving only positive comments in the release thread.
The developer describes the game:
Undercroft is a dazzling, epic adventure set in a fantasy world full of magic and monsters. It combines the atmosphere of classic role playing games with plenty of new features, and brings it all together with cool graphics and sophisticated level design.
The game features multiple environments, hundreds of items, and over 20 hours of gameplay. The developers have provided a lite version to try which will give you a feel for the game before committing to the full version.

Looks nice. And reminds me of Dungeon Master that NEEDS to be ported to iPhone. Man, I would pay for good conversion of this title. It was (and still is) so awesome…
But for now Undercroft looks very promising.
You can play Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder on the iPhone with the SNES emulator.
Yes, it does look inspired by Dungeon Master. That was a wonderful game.
Looks very promising! An oldschool dungeon crawler on the iPhone finally!
I hope someone will port DM, CSB and DM2 too. Not to mention Black Crypt!
i Would pay or a good port of Dungeon Master, no doubt (the Atari version, thanks) !
But WHO have the rights of the game ?
Amazing game. Been playing it on Windows Mobile a long time ago and I loved it then. This game is now on the iPhone, my life is complete.
So, for those who have played both, which do you like better: Undercroft or The Quest?
I like Undercroft more because i feel in this big world not so alone as in The Quest. In The Quest i never know what to do or where i should go.As far as i can say , Undercroft take you more by hand!
This is a far 'nicer' game than Quest as the quests within it are nice and compact and do not take so much random guessing. Also as the maps are smaller (so far) it seems easier to play casually.
My vote goes to Undercroft over The Quest. A great play for those who like Eye of the Beholder et al.
This looks awesome. I have been a huge fan of the Eye of the Beholder series and all other games of that type like Dungeon Master, Anvil of Dawn, Lands of Lore and the rest. I am not sure why no one has brought those to the iPhone yet, but this looks like it will slake my thirst for the time being.
Excellent game, remind me of might and magic or DM… I prefer this one than the quest… for the same reasons raphael says.
theres a lot more depth to the quest, but like others, i found myself wandering aimlessly and getting into fights that i didnt really want to bother with.
this game has 2 difficulty levels and the easiest one should appeal to a broad audience. im really enjoying this so far!
Great Game, bought it yesterday. It#s like Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder. Hot!
Does this play like Etrian Odyssey on the DS? I love that game.
Looks fun and pretty deep for $5. I think I'll check this one out. I like the 90's rpg feel too.
…actually, try 80's RPG. This is almost an exact copy of "Dungeon Master" that I was playing in like '87!
Someone noticed the spells from Dungeon Master while loading? This game truely brings back memories!
Bought it yesterday and quite happy with it. A must have for RPG fans, totally worth your bucks.
Having played through some of the lite version, I found this game incredibly boring and lame.
I'm on the final level of this game (17 hours in).. and I've really enjoyed it! If you're a fan of the Eye of the Beholder series (or Dungeon Master)… don't hesitate! I hope they make a sequel!!
Just finished playing through, and while I definitely enjoyed the game, I have to say I was disappointed by where it ends. Even for "to be continued" I felt screwed…
loved this game. It may not appeal to everyone. But I have very fond memories of Dungeon Master on my old Atari Computer.
This is my favorite dungeon crawler on the iphone so far.
