Awesome! I hope it comes out soon...

    Lakers all the way!

The controls on the right side of the screen seems very similar to Streetball. I have a feeling that this could be hard to play, especially for a five man team (never played FIFA or Madden..) I hope it works well in NBA Live '10.

  • Davidovich

Wow. I know good games aren't solely based on graphics, but these look terrible. I'll still get it if the gameplay is in tact, but the characters look like they've been ripped straight from the Pit Fighter video game from the 80's. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Well, we'll see.

    • Colorsound

You know, Before I looked at your comment I thought of Pit Fighter as well!
I am 33, so I was just at the right age when Pit Fighter came out.
I think they will look so crappy because of how much is going on at one time. I'm not sure though. Also, no reflections. It's kind of tough to get all the details in I guess

      • Davidovich

Best game ever, huh? Go 80's!!

    • Victor

are you kidding? I think the character models look incredibly impressive for an iPhone game...

      • http://www.stormchild.net Stormchild

The problem is the colors. The players look like they've been badly Photoshopped into a scene with different lighting, and the whole scene looks very undersaturated and bland.

f a nhl game. i think the graphics r decent for the first nba live for the iphone. The first nba live for the 360 was stripped down w/o a season mode. i just appreciate the effort. Love ball. Hopefully this game is enjoyable even if its the first live for the iphone!

the 1st nba live on 360 did have season mode, it lacked franchise mode, which was hugely disapponting.
Back to the iphone, it's hard to judge graphics from those screenshoot, but it doesn't hit me for sure. I see there's no mention about in-season trades, player awards and so on....hopefully they add these things.
Considering what they did with Fifa and all it's options/modes...I hope they take care of LIVE in a similar way.

Just isn't the same as NBA 2K10, which is unbelievably awesome.

    • SalsaMD

Uhm, which is also not available for the iphone. Ergo, the point of your remark is???

In any case, the current iteration of NBA live for console IMHO does stand up strongly against NBA 2K10.

      • iamse7en

        Wasn't talking about the iPhone.

The NBA Live series will never come close to the 2K series. Look at all the game ratings and reviews out there. It's a given consensus that the 2K series is superior. I've played both, and the Live series only disappoints me, again and again.

I have NBA 2k10, and it's fabulous this year.

      • http://www.naugatuck.com Munkie!

Wow, someone ERGO'd in public. Get a mop.

The point is I would and did drop 29.99 at gamestop for NBA 2k10 PSP version, and it is as full featured as last year's console version.

Sometimes it is well worth it to play a game on a full featured, joystick toting, gaming system, and not your idevice.

This is a case of spending the extra 20$ and getting your money's worth.

        Munkie!

      • xVietx

Munkie, do you honestly believe that anyone of the iDevice consumer base would pay $30 for a game? No matter how well it's made? Sure, there might be a few thousand buyers but nowhere near the amount the would sell if it were $9.99. A lot of buyers are complaining about the price as is.

      • SalsaMD

Points taken, True, and not related. This is about the iphone NBA live. Discussion of the PSP games is irrelevant, in the absence of even seeing a gameplay video of the iphone iteration of NBA live. Add to that the fact that many people are mobile gamers and simply are not interested in toting around another device when they travel. If, ultimately an effective 2K10 can be ported to a 3GS, I would happily pay for it.

    • xVietx

While it is a given consensus that the 2K series is better, NBA Live is slowly but surely making progress.

      • http://www.naugatuck.com Munkie!

Yes, this is an iDevice site, however in the end we are all gamers, are we not? And mobile gamers at that, hence a game discussion.

It is relevant, perhaps another thread though. My point is, people are willing to throw money at a product simply because of the platform on which it was developed. I own many "mobile" devices, iPhone, PSP, DS. I try and pick and chose the proper device for the game in question.

A game such as this is something I would rather pay for and get a full featured product.

You nimrods are forgetting this is not the X-BOX ELITE. It's graphics for a cellphone platform. How about we charge 30.99 for iphone gaming apps that have X-Box Elite Graphics??? Then you sorry bastards would be complaing about the price. The graphics look just fine for a cellphone platform. Shut up and stop whining. The game looks just fine.

I like the way this is going... provided it results in EA making an NHL game for the iPhone.

    • Victor

Agreed man. I will buy that the second it comes out for sure. Wish they'd get on that. NHL season is already underway...

I think the graphics look fine, considering the platform. We'll see about the gameplay, that's where I think this could stumble.

I would love to see them bring back some of the old Midway NBA Jam games. They can even keep the old 2-D sprite graphics, just update the rosters. Of course multiplayer too.

I think that would be a lot of fun.

Does anyone else notice that Steve Nash is shooting a foul shot LEFT HANDED? I mean c'mon any basketball fan will no Nash is not a lefty. The game looks good, but it claims "THE MOST REALISTIC BASKETBALL GAME" and yet they can't even make the player shoot with the right hand. (No pun intended) lol tho.

Matt & Kim? Love them, but what are they doing in a NBA game? (Some of you might recognize Matt & Kim from those Bacardi commercials or the ones for NBC's Community show.)

If it controls great I could give two you know whats about the graphics they seem serviceable enough to me for a cell phone game.

I know most of you shallow people prefer graphics > gameplay but not me.

I'm much more worried about the controls I could see it being pretty bad control scheme but I'm hoping its good. Love Basketball.

Has no one else caught the "We should have a hands on report with this game (and others) later today"?! Could it be Eliminate is on it's way :) ?! Not to rob the spotlight of NBA Live, of course...I'm just sayin'. For anyone into basketball this may be a hit.

does it also simulate the players getting suspended for off the court conduct or just being assholes in general? Nba is weak, Ill take an NHL game anytime.
