'Meteor Blitz' a Must Try. Lite Version and $.99 Weekend Sale

posted October 10th, 2009 8:48 AM EDT by arn in Sales, Shooter, iPhone games, iPod touch games

194605In our first Best iPhone Games column for September, we placed Meteor Blitz at the top of the heap with 5/5 stars. And, if for some reason you haven't already gotten the game, here's your chance to do so.

Alley Labs has introduced a 3 level Lite version of the game last night which gives you a sizable taste of this wonderfully executed space shooter. In contrast, the full version of the game includes 30 levels across 6 different worlds as well as an endless survival mode.

There was a lot we liked about the game including near-instant load times, auto-save, real-time high score ranking and great controls.

As a further incentive, Alley Labs is dropping the price of the game from $1.99 to $0.99 for this weekend.

No need to bother with the lite. The game is a must buy @ 99cents. Best dual sticks shooter on iPhone without any doubts ;)

  • A premium app thrown at you! :)

  • It's a completely shameless Super Stardust HD on the PS3.

This is good, as it's not only a very good clone, but SSHD is a very, VERY good game. The only thing I can figure that they've changed is that power up your weapons between levels, rather than during them.

Ironically, Meteor Blitz seems to be the better handheld game since Super Stardust for the PSP apparently has a control scheme that leaves much to be desired. It's a funny case in which virtual sticks are actually better than traditional buttons.

Man I bought it yesterday, and @ Aus$2.49 still worth every cent.. And yes its a Super Stardust HD "clone" .. PSP version was poocakes compared. Controls like no other app I know.. Alley Labs FTW! :)

This game is really really cool…its awesome to import your own music. The autosave is awesome. 99c is a joke. But a very good one. Its a game you can play over and over again while listening to your tracks. You can stop it and shut the app down and then start it again whenever you like at the exact same spot youve been before…

DOH!! second game which drops half price after i buy it.. :(

note to self: just wait for apps from 2 dollars to be on sale.. cause they eventually will

This game is great! Just bought it at .99, would have paid the original 1.99 for it.

    Nice graphics and great controls!

Bugger… just bought this 2 days ago after the September games of the month bit. Ah well. Not as good as Super Stardust HD (by a LONG way), but definitely worth 59p.

  • Lunatic4ever says:

Yeah, bought it,too. Played it a few minutes and already noticed its addictive-potential.Will be in the train this night,so i'll pump in some straight HipHop and hit em up! :D

Maaaan, so good game for so little pennies… I feel almost guilty I buy this for a price of bus ticket. AWESOME game!

  • Raider32 says:

The game is amazing. I just got it today and it's so addicting

Glad to see TA had given this game a 5/5 its definitely a great game and deserves a good score, this is one of the few games I'm really happy I payed full price on instead of getting at a sale to support these devs.

Yes its very much like SSHD but every Gameloft game is a clone of another game, since SSHD doesn't look like its coming to iphone I'm very happy to have this game, graphics are great, controls are great and the UI is great so slick, coming back to your game state is perfectly and instantly done. The live global leaderboards is brillant.

I really hope to see updates or a sequel for this game that add some more enemies, some intriguing bosses and maybe a new mode or two although its already easily worth getting. And whatever else these devs have up their sleeves on other games too.
