TouchArcade forum user arta ran across this promotional video for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 for the iPhone that looks impressive:

The description of the video claims the following:

All 10 levels plus 3 bonus levels with incredible graphics and blazing frame rate make this THE definitive skateboarding game for the iPhone. Tony Hawk in all his glory!!

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 was originally released in 2000 for the Playstation and has been followed up with a number of sequels. The video looks quite convincing, though we haven't heard official confirmation of this title coming to the iPhone.

Thanks arta

Well, it's not hard to find out if it's a fake or not. It shows the devs (or one of them) is LTI Gray Matter. I hit up their website and it says iPhone Developer.....as well as a bunch of other consoles. I'm shooting them an email now.

Looks very cool. I spent way to much time playing the original back when. Way more interesting then touchgrind.

i smell prank all the way. there are lots of little things that caught my eye that dont make sense.
first off you never see the person holding the ipod with the game in view, second, a lot of times when the cut screens, or a crash takes place the musci starts to fade out a few seconds to early or late... (doesn't sync up in other words if it was a real game)

i think its a well edited movie... the game uses every button on the six axis control for the playstation to pull of moves, it is just too complicated to move to just 4 control squares on the ipod..

    • mvdm929

I used to have Pro Skater 2 on my Dell Axim x50v running windows mobile. It looked very similiar

      • Reaver

same game on the n-gage, played just like the ps version

I find it suspect that the controls change midway in the video - but if this is real, I'd be immensely happy. IMO, THPS2 was really one of the best, if not the best, in the series. It was just pure fun, no garbage story, just places to skate and have fun.

Does make me wonder how one would do a manual.

OMG I loved this game! here's the thing, you had to be lightning-quick with the arrow keys and CVB to get the timing right, so as of now i think this will fail on the iPhone.... i'd love it if it works though!

    • wegmans

We broke a keyboard in college because of just the demo (Marseille)

Awww come on TA, this is as fake as it could be.. you can see the movie stuttering from bad editing. It makes me anxiety to think anyone would believe this is even remotely real.

Two sequels?! Try a dozen. Don't you even play games?

Indeed you had to be extra quick on the keyboard but the controls look like they could work pretty well.

I'm a Fan of all Tony Hawk games and was hoping for it to hit iTouch. I'm not feeling those controls at all. I hope that you can either get rid of the virtual buttons to open up the screen for accelerometer and/or have an option for virtual controls. Virtual controls could possibly work out well. You could have you virtual d-pad on the bottom left corner of the screen and Jump, Grind, Grab, Kick buttons somewhere on the bottom right corner. I Really hope thats not a hoax because it looks real to me.

This would be awesome if real. I noticed at 5:40 the ipod touch has a white cord from the headphone jack, at 5:50 the cord is gone. I think this one is a fake.

I vote that it's real video. That level of interaction would have taken too long to rehearse.

I would like to think its real- cosmircob makes a very good point. However the lack of system lag on a game with that level of 3D graphics should have alot of system lag.

    • Victor

have you played assassins creed? pretty damn impressive if you ask me... those graphics are certainly possible on an iphone.

Totally Legit. The developer LTI gray matter has Tony Hawk 2 for PC on the list of games they have made. and just as dannys95 said; they are a licensed iPhone Dev.
Plus if it was fake... they did a good job of recreating the menus for an iTouch interface

If released, this would surely climb the charts.

    I'm plenty occupied with [App]Touchgrind[/App] and [App]Vans Sk8: Pool Service[/App] :D

Damn my linking skillz? Epic Fail!

        That deserves a facepalm.

If Toucharcade eventually gets an interview with these guys, I'd like them to ask why'd they go with these big button controls instead of swiping like Vans Sk8, or invisible sections like Crazy Snowboard or Aqua Moto Racing.

Yeah, looks a lot like THPS2 on the Axim X50v/X51v, modified to suite the iDevices. Not sure I dig those controls either. I hope there are multiple or configurable controls.

"Real" THPS players would have a pair of fingers on or hovering above the touch/grind buttons at all times. ;)

its fake, when they cut to the view of the hands holding/playing the game, you can clearly see at one point that he's on a home screen, with the standard bottom row of icons in the metallic area.

buttons also don't time up, nor does the leaning.

Update: IGN contacted Activision for confirmation of the allegedly leaked footage and an iPhone version of Hawk 2, but reps for the publisher said the video in question is just a mock-up, presumably by some overzealous fan, and not at all sanctioned by the company. It has no such iPhone Hawk game in development.

This game is real, the ones who thinks it is fake have no clue. Seriously, if you take a close look you can see the consoles, you will spend a lot of time to fake a video. Plus LTI is a reputable company. Do you research before putting lies about a game. Plus, I do know the lead programmers. I'm hoping that Activision will come out of their senses and publish this game on Iphone.

I wanted to believe this but then I watched the video. It appeared all real until he goes to the menu and selects Sound Levels. There's a little jump there and when he plays with the music level it doesn't appear to change at all and the SFX level sounds all choppy and fake too.

I was kinda laughing at all the "fake" comments before I watched the video because I expected it but now I can't help but agree.
