iphone_worms_screen_1Last week, Team 17 released some screenshots from their upcoming port of Worms for the iPhone.

Worms is a turn-based game in the vein of Scorched Earth, where two teams of worms face off across various craggy battlefields, armed with a variety of weapons (bazookas, cluster grenades, air strikes, etc.), in a bid to wipe out the other team and emerge victorious with the last worm standing. The original version won rave reviews and is a highly anticipated port for the iPhone.

Team 17 has since released some actual gameplay video of the iPhone version of Worms:

We'll provide more details as we come across them.

I like how they made choosing weapons look like iPhone icons. Nice touch.

  • Dudehuge says:

    I like what I'm seeing.

Looks great. I want it now!

  • Kita says:

from what I understand, there will be no online multiplayer included in the game :( Either way I'm still buying it asap!

  • PeterM11 says:

Looking good. Looking forward to it. Controls seem a little weird but I'm sure they'll be nice.

  • Nonny says:

All these ports need at least local Wifi play… especially given games like Worms are predominantly multiplayer.

If this ends up getting online play it deserves to sell bucketloads.

  • mandiller says:

This better get online play. If not, no sale for me.

  • Reason21 says:

Me either sadly. I'll wait for official verdict though.

  • Shane says:

    Looking good.

I like how they realize, and what many developers don't seem to get, is that you dont need "buttons" to perform actions. iPhone games should utilize gesture based actions!

  • Cameron says:

Wow. I am so excited about this game. I hope it is released soon!

  • Nicolinux says:

@mandiller: This game is a top10 candidate even without multiplayer.

  • bob says:

Big question will be do they release it at a decent price like $2.99, or do they go for the gouge at $4.99.

  • you suck bob says:

for a proper game like worms you should be grateful they dont charge over 20$. and to all those whinging, i will cut off my dick and sell it on ebay if this doesnt include multiplayer

  • dom says:

the rope is what makes worms an awesome game. On PC the rope is incredible. I also have in on PS3 and the rope cant do half of what it can on PC. It lowers the fun factor considerably. I have a feeling the iphone will be the same.

FINALLY!!!! No more iShoot! I'm not gonna take anything away from iShoot. It's a great game. But Worms is what made it happen. I can't wait. I hope it's not too expensive.

  • formal says:

I could careless about online multiplayer. Just give it multiplayer for the single device. Playing these games "with actual people" is how it's meant to be played! Puff-puff pass….. * oh wait that's for somethin else ;)

  • Mark says:

Bob, have you ever played worms? This will probably go for 9.99 and will be worth every cent.

  • Nikiso says:

This will be #1 game ever published for iPhone!!!

    formal… pass that shit :)

  • caminagetcha says:

Besides multiplayer it needs many many missions/training modes/history mode like in the pc's version…. with that it would be instant buy :D

  • Stephen says:

you won't believe how long i've been thinking of sending in the idea of creating this game, WORMS….. it's the best and most addicting game i ever came across on pc and finally it's here!!! I just hope that some thought has or will go into upgrading it to multiplayer…because then and only then it would be the best competitive gaming experience!!!…….TEAM 17 2 thumbs up!!!!

  • G-Rock says:

    Can't wait…
