'Need For Speed' Sneak Peak

posted by arn on December 8th, 2008 9:05 PM EST in Upcoming Games

Kotaku managed to spend some time with EA's Need for Speed which is due for release in December.

Kotaku describes how EA's racer opts for an "always on" accelerator system:

Also, there's no gas or break. You're always gassin' it. The game compensates by how well you do on turns. The better lined up you are on the "turning arch"; the appropriate gas or brake is automatically applied, thus saving you from crashing into the wall or railing. You also have the option of using nitro boost, to speed up, or this "bullet-time" function to slow you down while making tough turns.

There will be 30 cars to choose from and described as graphically "head and shoulders" above the rest.

The next hands on demo will take place Sat, Dec 13th at the Third Street Promenade Apple Store in Santa Monica, CA.

Aw man, i was just about to go post this in the forums. Also they have a great look at monopoly. I really wish there was a gas, just seems too boring and easy without it.

ah… i really expected story mode and different type of race… i meant what the heck it took like really really long to make one and there not much into it… i think it will get boring after playing it for 2 hours or so…..

    Wow a must-buy just turned into a never-buy.

No accelarator or brake? That is just lazy. EA really do take people for fools.

Yep- seems like Ferarri might be the NFS beater if you haven't got full control of your car in NFS.

  • along123 says:

Yeah. No gas or break pedal?

Wad de heck are they thinking?

Now, I'm thinking of getting Pink slip and Ferrari instead of NFS!
