At the Square Enix Presents Digital Event, Square Enix announced two new mobile projects and revealed a new trailer for the upcoming Just Cause Mobile. Just Cause Mobile is still set for 2021 on iOS and Android. The Just Cause Mobile campaign will feature characters from the series who will help players in missions. Just Cause Mobile‘s campaign is set across three open world locations across the world and it will also feature series protagonist Rico Rodriguez. Sadly, a Just Cause Mobile release date was still not announced. It will be out later this year on mobile. Check out the official website here. Watch the Just Cause Mobile cinematic trailer below:
The second mobile announcement from Square Enix is a new collaboration between Taito and Square Enix Montreal. If you’ve not paid attention to Square Enix Montreal for whatever reason, Square Enix Montreal brought us the superb Hitman GO, Lara Croft GO, and more. This project is a Space Invaders augmented reality game that features a modern art style. Taito and Square Enix want to expand the Space Invaders universe with this release. It is set to release on the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android in the future. You can register here if you’re interested in checking it out. Watch the teaser trailer below:
The final mobile announcement of the event was Project Hitman Sniper Assassins (working title) from Square Enix Montreal. This game features an original Hitman story with new assassins, gameplay features, and more. Square Enix Montreal aims to make Project Hitman Sniper Assassins feel like a leap forward for the genre compared to the original. No release date was announced but the studio mentions being able to get your hands on it in the coming months. Watch the Project Hitman Sniper Assassins teaser trailer below:
Barring the lack of release dates for anything mobile, I’m very pleased with the announcements. Square Enix Montreal is excellent and I can’t wait to play the upcoming games. Barring the mobile announcements, I’m very hyped for replaying Life is Strange and Before the Storm through the remasters later this year alongside the new game Life is Strange: True Colors. Hopefully the remasters come to mobile eventually even if they are new purchases to take advantage of modern iOS hardware. What are you looking forward to from the three reveals at today’s Square Enix Presents event?
