New Trailer Released for ‘Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile’, Android Pre-Registration Now Open

Today is Activision’s big Call of Duty NEXT showcase where they’re announcing all the cool stuff that’s coming up for their range of Call of Duty games. These are basically split into three tentpole games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which is hitting consoles and PC in October; Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 which is the next iteration of the massively popular free to play battle royale game on console and PC; and Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile which is the built-for-mobile version of that free to play battle royale game. Naturally, our interests here at TouchArcade lie mostly with that upcoming mobile game, and during CODNEXT many new details about Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile were revealed as well as a brand new cinematic trailer, which you can see below.

First off, Warzone Mobile will take place in the Verdansk map, which was the original map in Call of Duty: Warzone when it first released back in 2020 and is based on a location from 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The developers are promising an experience just like on consoles and PC but shrunk down for mobile devices. This means you can expect things like Kill Streaks, Buy Stations, and of course the Gulag to all make appearances in Warzone: Mobile. It will also feature 120 live players in the same match, down from the 150 of Warzone proper but still more than most battle royale games on mobile, so expect some pretty large and frantic battles against tons of opponents. And the developers note that they won’t be including bots in that 120, and will look to have every match feature real live players.

There will not be cross-platform play between Warzone on mobile and the console or PC versions, however, there will be cross-platform progression and a shared Battle Pass between all 3 titles: Modern Warfare II, Warzone 2.0, and Warzone Mobile. This is something I’m surprised wasn’t already a thing with the current crop of Call of Duty titles across all platforms, but I think Activision was kind of taken by surprise with the success of Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile and so weren’t prepared to implement a cross-progression system after the fact. Now with 3 new games all coming out roughly at the same time, they do have the chance to build with this cross-progression in mind, which means that no matter what game or what platform you’re playing the new Call of Duty games on you’ll be making meaningful progression.

The entire CODNEXT event is embedded above, and since it’s still ongoing at the time of posting it’s a bit hard to tell you an exact timestamp when the Warzone: Mobile stuff starts. However, roughly an hour and twenty minutes or so in is the segment showing off details and some early alpha footage of Warzone: Mobile in action, and then later in the show, at about two and a half hours in, they do some live gameplay demonstrations of the game. Pre-registrations for the Android version are now live on the Google Play Store with multiple tiers of rewards to unlock based on how many people pre-register, including a ~mystery reward~ for hitting the 25 million mark. Check out the reward tiers and more info about the game over on its website, and look for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile to launch sometime next year.
