Just a short while ago Activision wrapped up their latest Call of Duty: NEXT event where they lay out their plans for the massively popular franchise over the course of the next year or so across all its different platforms and titles. The forthcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and the latest updates to Call of Duty: Warzone are easily the biggest draws of the event, but of course doing what we do here at TouchArcade our interest lies with the mobile offerings, and the NEXT event didn’t disappoint on that front. Lots of new details were revealed for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, most notably that the fan-favorite map Rebirth Island from Call of Duty: Warzone proper has been rebuilt from the ground up for the mobile version and will be included alongside the legendary Verdansk map as well as the Shipment and Shoot House maps at launch.
It was in March of last year that Call of Duty: Warzone was officially announced as coming to mobile platforms following the strong hints that it would based on a job listing posted way back in 2020. In September of last year, during the previous Call of Duty: NEXT event, a new trailer and new details were revealed for the title, and a couple of months later the game went up on the iOS and Android app stores for pre-order with an expected release date of May 15th, 2023. That ended up being just a placeholder date though as when it approached the expected release date was bumped to November 1st, 2023 and Activision itself came out and said that it also was just a placeholder and the current actual release window is spring of 2024. The game is currently undergoing heavy testing in limited areas around the world.
