Motion Twin and Playdigious’ amazing Dead Cells ($8.99) got its huge DLC this year in the form of ‘The Queen and the Sea’ for iOS and Android. I’ve been covering the game on mobile for a while now, and it has been great seeing Playdigious slowly catch up to speed with the PC and console version. With the mobile version being a few updates behind PC again, Motion Twin has detailed its plans for 2022 and parts of 2023 for Dead Cells. Dead Cells in 2023 is aiming to have its biggest year since the 1.0 launch and Motion Twin confirms that the game is not close to being done, but in the middle of its life.
For a game with so much quality content added for free and through small DLC purchases, this is great to hear. The team is planning on adding Panchaku and a lot of item balances and legendary changes this summer with a boss rush mode in the fall. The final update of 2022 in winter is under wraps right now. 2023 will see the game have its biggest year since hitting 1.0. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for this to hit mobile, but Playdigious has been doing amazing work with the port over the years so patience has been paying off. Watch a trailer for the most recent update on PC below which is the first update following the ‘Break the Bank’ update that is yet to hit mobile:
If you’re curious about Dead Cells on mobile, I did an interview with Playdigious covering that and Streets of Rage 4. Read it here. I hope Playdigious announces a rough timeframe for when mobile players can expect the accessibility and prior major update on mobile. If you haven’t bought Dead Cells on mobile yet, read my review on the game’s current state here. If you’re on iOS, you can buy it on the App Store. Check it out on Google Play here for Android. If you’re unsure whether to grab it on mobile or Switch, read my comparison here. What do you think of Dead Cells and its current state on mobile?
