Strategic Deck Building Roguelike ‘Monster Train’ in Development for Global Release on Mobile

As spotted by Talbs on our forums, Shiny Shoe revealed that the strategic deck building roguelike Monster Train is in development for mobile and aiming for a global release. Last month, the developer announced that a special adaptation was in the works for the Chinese mobile market but there was no news for a global version. In the most recent news post on the Monster Train Steam page, Shiny Shoe discussed how the game runs on Valve’s new Steam Deck, but also casually mentioned that the team has been focused on the mobile space for some time with development ongoing for a global launch of Monster Train on (REDACTED). Monster Train is already on Steam Deck and it is even playable on xCloud for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members so this is definitely for mobile. If you’ve not played it yet, watch the Monster Train trailer below:

The announcement also mentions that the team doesn’t have confirmed information to share right now, but it is deep into development. Hopefully we get some news soon because games like this shine on portables. If you’re curious about Monster Train and can’t wait for the future mobile version, it is available on on Nintendo Switch. You can also play it on Xbox and PC platforms. Going by the news about the Steam Deck version, it definitely looks nice on Valve’s handheld. I’m always up for more premium deck building games on iPad. Hopefully it gets all the care it needs to translate over all the interactions so it feels right at home on potentially iOS and Android in the future. I’ll be keeping my eye on this as it seems right up my alley. Have you played Monster Train yet and will you be checking it out in the future on mobile?
