‘Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness’ Is an Officially Licensed ‘Shining Force’ Game Coming to Mobile Next Year Worldwide

TouchArcade Rating:

SEGA’s Shining Force series isn’t a stranger to mobile with the SEGA Forever Shining Force Classics (Free) release being an excellent way to experience three of the best Genesis RPGs together. The Shining Force series is a part of the larger Shining umbrella that includes various games like Shining Resonance and even Blade Arcus from Shining. There hasn’t been a new Shining game released outside Japan since Shining Resonance Refrain on consoles and PC barring the Shining Force Classics mobile release that released in recent times. Today, Hive (under the Korean company Vespa) announced (via Gematsu) that it has licensed Shining Force for a new entry titled Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness. Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness is a free to play mobile game aiming to bring the strategy and fun of tactical RPGs to mobile.

Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness will include in-app purchases. While specific countries haven not been announced, it is aiming to release worldwide in the first half of next year and the licensing rights include North America, Japan, South Korea, Europe, and other Asian countries. A beta for Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness is in the works as well. It will be based on the unique setting and story of the Shining Force series. More details are not available as of this writing. It is possible that this could end up playing like Fire Emblem Heroes but that remains to be seen.
